We are always looking for talented scientists to grow and develop our team and currently we are looking for an experienced bioinformatician who will work with our clients - ranging from pharmaceutical companies to clinical centers and non-profit organizations - on advanced statistical and functional analysis of OMICs data to generate hypotheses on disease mechanisms, drug response biomarkers, and drug targets.
**Responsibilities and Duties**:
In your day-to-day activities, you will:
- Develop new approaches and techniques to address complicated and interesting scientific questions;
- Participate in business and strategy development by scoping with customers their scientific needs and transforming these needs into solutions.
- Participate in the implementation of the approaches in working tools and commercial software.
**Qualifications**:
**Your Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
- Essential:
- Experience with retrieval, statistical analysis, integration, annotation and visualisation of one or more of following OMICs data types: microarray, DNA-seq data, bulk and single cell RNA-seq data, proteomics, metabolomics and microbial metagenomics data. Experience with pathway and network analyses. Integration of multiple complementary OMICs data in the context of biological pathways and protein interaction networks.
- Proficiency in statistical programming languages (R), Unix/Linux shell
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to conduct regular presentations, lead customer conversations and write scientific texts/articles/reports.
- Self-starter able to work independently and within a dynamic multidisciplinary team.
- Aptitude for working in a customer-oriented consulting environment: an ability to earn customer trust through effective communication, efficiency, integrity, and deep technical expertise.
- Desired:
- Thorough knowledge of statistics and working experience of machine learning techniques
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python), database querying languages (SQL), and version control systems (Git)
- Experience with Systems Biology tools (e.g. molecular network analysis)
- Industry experience in drug development, biomarker identification, translational science and related fields
- Knowledge of molecular biology, cell biology, human genetics, and signaling pathways.
- Experience with MetaCore and/or Ingenuity Pathway Analysis or other pathway analysis platforms.
**Education and Experience**:
- PhD (or equivalent work experience) in Bioinformatics, Computational or Systems Biology, Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science (latter two as applied to solving problems in areas of biology or medicine) or a related field.
- A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in bioinformatics or computational biology in professional setting, preferably in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare setting.
