- Lead small molecule drug discovery chemistry teams through all stages of drug discovery, contributing to define the scientific strategy for research programs.
- Coordinate the work of internal colleagues and external collaborators across various disciplines and geographies.
- Leverage world-class structure-based drug design technologies and partner with expert colleagues in computational chemistry and biophysics to characterize protein-ligand interactions and gain key insights supporting de-novo molecular design.
- Optimize lead compounds to improve potency, selectivity, physicochemical properties and ADMET to meet the desired target product profiles required to invent high-quality medicines.
- Team up with colleagues specialized in high-throughput automated synthesis, route optimization and scale-up to maximize the overall efficiency and productivity of the group.
- Reach out across disciplines to interact and collaborate with scientists in areas like pharmacology, translational science, ADME and toxicology to address specific program needs, increase your overall business acuity and provide them with Medicinal Chemistry perspectives.
- Lead, mentor and develop colleagues to promote personal growth and create new scientific capabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience:

- PhD in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry with 5+ years’ post-graduation medicinal chemistry or small molecule organic synthesis experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology or academic environments, or MS in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry with 10+ years’ experience.
- Strong knowledge of the following areas of Small Molecule Drug Discovery:

- Lead generation including initial hit identification and validation.
- Lead optimization to improve properties of compounds, optimize in vitro and in vivo potency, selectivity, and ADMET properties.
- Contemporary understanding of ligand binding efficiency, energetics, and how to optimize.
- Biophysical techniques such as X-ray protein structure, SPR, ASMS.
- Structure-based drug design employing computational chemistry tools and methods.
- Strong Synthetic Organic Chemistry skills.
- Robust track record of scientific contributions including peer reviewed publications, patents and presentations.
- Excellent English language oral and written communication skills, ability to engage highly effectively as team player in a multidisciplinary and international environment.
- Excellent collaboration skills. Ability to lead projects and initiatives, coordinating multiple scientific activities and team members simultaneously across various sites.

Additional skills:

- Experience with chemistry platforms and methodologies used in the discovery and development of novel Targeted Protein Degraders will be highly valued.
- Command of scientific informatics and data visualization tools and techniques to undertake computationally driven work such as de-novo design or multi-property optimization will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of High Throughput Experimentation techniques applied to parallel synthesis and reaction screening.
