Offshore Controls Fmea Engineer

**Job Description Summary**: Controls FMEA Engineer role is responsible to maintain the quality rigor of the Controls specifications and design of Wind turbine controls software to improve the reliability of the overall wind turbine and help in improving the overall availability of the turbine. Wind Turbine Controls team receives component specifications from different teams and in this role, the engineer is expected to work closely within Controls (Development, Verification and Platform teams) by aligning with component owners, reliability experts and chiefs office to identify and capture the potential failure modes from the specifications.

**Essential Responsibilities**
- Main responsibility would be to perform Failure Mode and Effects Analysis on new or change in Controls component specifications.
- Collaborate across different teams to design and execute multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Maintain the life cycle of Controls FMEA's against the ever changing specifications of the sub systems
- Understand the Controls development workflow and be part of entire controls feature life cycle.
- Work closely with Component owners to share across the feedback about the potential findings and reviewing mitigation plans.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned activities using sound Systems Engineering methodology while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements as per the organizational planning.
- Following the global standards, guidelines and drive the improvement of Specifications checklists and/or NPI review checklists.
- Development and enhancement of wind turbine controls technologies, covering functional requirements definition, flow down, preliminary design development and documentation.
- Investigate controls issues and services feedback, participate in identifying and implementing improvements in control strategies as well as specifications.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned activities using sound Systems Engineering methodology while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements as per the organizational planning.

**Qualifications/Requirements**
- Master’s Degree in Control Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited College or University
- Having a Six Sigma certification (DFSS) is an added advantage.
- Experience in design and / or modeling of controls systems
- Experience with new controls algorithm development, implementation and validation techniques: Software in the Loop (SIL), Hardware in the Loop (HIL)
- Knowledge of controls related sensors and actuators
- Proven ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Effective problem identification and solution skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, proven leadership skills and a positive energy
- Willingness to travel occasionally

**Desired Characteristics**
- Experience with real time controls design or modeling
- Hands on experience with respect to reliability analysis
- Proficient in Matlab / Simulink for the design and validation of controls systems
- Experience with GE’s MarkVIe or similar PLC’s
- Experience in wind industry with a focus on reliability of controls systems
- Familiarity and practical experience with agile methodologies
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
