**What we expect**:
The strategic buyer's mission is to develop and manage strategically relevant suppliers, looking for alternative sources and search for new markets in order to detect new supply options. This position is also responsible for managing and continuously optimizing sourcing, developing and implementing strategies to achieve defined procurement and supply management (PSM) targets, especially those regarding cost saving. The strategic buyer has to manage the contract and contract-like agreements and review demands, as well as in-depth requirements with internal clients to ensure implementation of the PSM strategy.

**Main Tasks & Activities**:

- Development and continuous optimization of sourcing strategies.
- Execution of global market forecasts and trend analyses.
- Searching for, developing and managing strategically relevant suppliers around the world; building up strategic supplier partnerships. Responsible for locating and maintaining the best sources of supply for the components and materials needed by the company. The strategic buyer has to consider all aspects of their relationship with suppliers, including quality, value and the ability to respond quickly to changing supply requirements. His /her aim will be to select suppliers that can act as long-term partners and help the company meet its growth objectives.
- Preparing and conducting / leading contract negotiations with the suppliers in an international environment.
- Supplier management (e.g. evaluation, revision, regular meetings with key suppliers of assigned sourcing categories).
- Initiation of procurement transactions; conducting analyses that may require profound technical understanding of specific sourcing categories.
- Supporting cluster managers and cluster team members in the development and implementation of new Groupwide strategies and improvement measures.
- Continuous interaction with other strategic buyers of the group and sharing of best practices on methods and tools.
- Coordination of cross-functional collaboration to ensure that the requirements of internal clients reflect current market offering / support standardization and are in line with pursued cluster and PSM strategies.
- Create reports on purchasing and compare expenditures against purchasing budgets for different departments or different types of supply.
- Evaluate procurement marketplace for assigned commodities.
- Remains current on economic, industrial and other trends that affect market and prices.
- Must be able to expedite critical components and overdue purchase orders.
- Be a strong team player with ability to work effectively with cross-functional product development teams to support the quotation process and product launches.
- Participate in Supplier quality activities such as corrective action completion.
- Works with best total cost solutions. May coordinate and negotiate corporate contracts for assigned commodities with the expectation of providing purchase price reductions and establishing purchase pricing.
- Qualifies suppliers through supplier quality audits and continuously reviews suppliers’ performance.
- Coordinates with the engineering and manufacturing departments on new product development.

**Who we are looking for**:
**Education / Qualifications**:

- A bachelor’s degree (in engineering desirable)
- A Master’s in supply chain management will be considered a plus

**Previous Experience**:

- Minimum 5 years in a similar position within a procurement and supply management (PSM) department and significant international background.
- Experience in the manufacturing or engineering sector a plus.
