Wood is currently recruiting for a Chief Civil Engineer with extensive experience in the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical industry. The role will be based in Madrid.
- Perform the function of Lead Civil Engineer on large or complex projects, responsible for the administration, overall technical direction and co-ordination of all civil / structural engineering and design work on assigned projects
- Ensure that all activities carried out by the Civil Engineering and Design Group personnel, on assigned projects, comply with and support the Wood Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management System
- Assess technical and human resources for assigned projects and to ensure that all assigned civil engineering activities are carried out within the agreed manhour budgets, cost budgets and time schedules
- Ensure that all civil / structural engineering work on assigned projects is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Project requisitions including review and approval of project schedules to see that all dates, rates of progress and design periods are realistic
- Identify circumstances considered likely to result in contract changes and prepares manhour estimates to support contract changes including manhour estimates for Civil Engineering activities for proposals and projects, assignment and coordination of the activities of Civil Engineers reporting to him/her
- Carry out discipline (technical) audits on civil engineering work carried out on projects
- Prepare contract requisitions for civil and structural work on assigned projects and technical evaluations of civil and structural contract enquiries
- Liaise with specialist consultants appointed to support the Civil Engineering, Design Group and construction personnel and addresses site queries during construction
- Carry out periodic inspection of civil and structural work during construction to ensure correct interpretation of designs and issues completion certificates for structural work carried out on assigned projects
- Provide guidance and training to junior and trainee engineers
- Keep abreast of development in the civil and structural engineering field
- Develop structural and foundation calculations, earthworks design, geotechnical reports evaluation and other civil issues, when it is necessary and check all Works performed by his team
- BSc (Civil Engineering) / BEng (Civil)
- 15+ years relevant experience in Oil & Gas Projects (design and calculation)
- Excellent command of Spanish and English languages
- Good organization, written and oral skills
- Knowledge of Spanish and International Standards and Codes (EHE, CTE, EAE, EuroCodes, AISC, ACI, etc.)
- Advanced user of StaadPro
- Advanced user of MS Office
- Holding a valid permit to live and work in Spain is required
- Immediate availability to join
