**Job Description Summary**: As a Structural Engineer, you will own the design of structural components and bring technical expertise to improve installed wind turbine fleet.
You will work on the design, calculation and validation of structural and mechanical components that meet the product requirements while maintaining the highest standards of EHS, quality, timeliness and cost.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Full ownership and accountability for design, development, testing and certification of structural sub-systems appointed
- You will work together with the product design engineers (PDEs) to develop the engineering documentation and BOMs of your design (specifications, 3D models, drawings, O&M manuals, Test plans ). Drive changes across the Engineering change management system.
- Ensure sub-system full integrated solution, by analyzing all mechanical and electrical/control interfaces. Ensure proper design reviews and documentation quality according to GE guidelines
- You will work with externals suppliers and coordinate, review and approve their designs to match your requirements.
- You will work together with Service, Supply Chain, and EHS amongst others, to deliver the best solution from a whole value chain perspective
- You will manage and mitigate the technical risks associated to your components through the project or root cause analysis (RCA) gates and products lifecycle using systematic methodologies such as DFMEAs and the creation and follow up of validation plans.
**Required Qualifications**
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. Preferably in structural or mechanical engineering.
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods and design standards of structural components.
- Relevant Engineering experience in the design and calculation of structural components using ANSYS, NCODE
- Proven results developing & implementing technology programs, preferably in the wind industry.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
**Desired Characteristics**
- Effective problem identification and solving ability (RCA).
- Knowledge of calculation methods related to the strength of materials, finite element simulation, metallurgy and welding processes, castings & structural
- Knowledge of Standards and Design Codes.GD&T.
- Knowledge of ANSYS or other finite element analysis tools.
- Fluency with technical drawing and GD&T
- Experience with hydraulic systems (hydraulic pumps, hoses, greasing systems, brake calipers) is added value for the job
- Experience with bearing systems is added value for the job
- Technical coordination capability to deal with multiple stockholders in various engineering disciplines
- Positive mindset with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Field issues, test and/or validation experience
