**Job Description Summary**:
The Chief Consulting Engineer for Product Safety is the primary expert in the field of product safety in the Onshore Wind organisation. The role reports to the Onshore Wind Chief Engineer and is responsible for defining the strategy for further improvement in the safety of all Onshore Wind’s products, for communicating this strategy within the organisation, and for driving the strategy into the organisation in collaboration with the Chief Engineer, the Engineering Manager of the Onshore Safety Systems team, and other stakeholders.
**Essential Responsibilities**
risk assessment: HAZOP, Accident Scenario Reviews
- safety case management: ‘SAFER’ cases
human factors engineering- Balance the demands of Product Safety processes and requirements with resource and delivery timeline constraints
Steer and mentor the other technical experts in the field of product safety
- Participate in mini-project teams formed to investigate the most critical safety events across the fleet
- Chair the Product Safety Design Board
- Chair product safety design reviews for major product development programs
- Collaborate widely across internal functions, including Engineering, EHS, Product Development, Fleet Reliability & Operations, LM, Services, Sourcing and Manufacturing
- Maintain a broad view of safety compliance, collaborating closely with the compliance team
**Qualifications/Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of experience in product safety evaluation and design for large electro-mechanical systems
- Experience with risk assessment, functional safety, Human Factors Engineering, Design for Safety and EHS Compliance
- Demonstrated management and interpersonal skills
- Able to clearly communicate complex concepts or systems to non-experts
- Fluency in English, written and spoken
**Desired Characteristics**:

- Advanced degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or a related discipline
- Wind industry experience in the fields of product safety, design and/or operation
- Experience with Reliasoft Weibull and Reno
- NEBOSH International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
