VHIR offers a position for a specialized technician within the High Technology Unit (UAT). UAT belongs to

the VHIR pre-clinical core-facilities, providing highly specialized equipment along with scientific and technical

expertise to assist researchers in experimental design and data analysis. UAT portfolio comprises Cytometry,

Microscopy, Genomics, Metabolomics and Molecular Diagnosis services. In addition, UAT collaborates with

other VHIR core-facilities and organizes specialized training and teaching activities.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Education and qualifications**:
**Required.**
- University Degree in Life Sciences (Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Biology or similar)
- MSc in Life Sciences
- Good communication skills
- Fluid written and spoken Catalan, Spanish and English.

**Experience and knowledge**:
**Required**:

- Theoretical knowledge of the mass spectrometry technologies, as well as general principles of targeted

and untargeted metabolomics.
- Demonstrable experience at user level in handling UPLC-MS/MS equipment similar to the UPLC-Xevo

TQ system available at UAT
- Demonstrable experience in developing projects and validating methods using mass spectrometry

techniques.
- Demonstrable experience in basic genomics laboratory techniques: nucleic acids handling and quality

control (absorbance, fluorimetry), mouse genotyping, sample preparation for Sanger sequencing, RT
- qPCR.
- Strong customer orientation.
- Good team player.
- Proactive, rigorous, organized person able to work autonomously, committed to the tasks required by

the position.
- Willing to learn, flexibility, adaptability and resilience.

**Desired**:

- PhD involving demonstrable experience in metabolomics/genomics techniques.
- Experience in handling microarrays protocols, specifically Life Technologies Axiom and Clariom arrays.
- Experience in other genomic techniques, especially in next-generation sequencing (library generation,

panel design, quality control, handling of sequencers).
- Experience in other techniques offered by UAT (microscopy, citometry) will be also valued.
- Knowledge/experience working under a quality management systems/experience working under a

quality management system (preferably ISO9001:2015, other quality systems will be also valued).
