Instrumentation and Control Engineer

**Job description**:

- Support the coordination of the DONES Control System activities;
- Support the development of a Control Strategy for the IFMIF-DONES Plant;
- Support the review and definition of the Control Architecture (hardware and software);
- Support the assessment of the technical documents produced for the different control systems: CODAC, MPS, SCS;
- Support the Design Reviews for the Control Systems of the Plant: CODAC, MPS, SCS;
- Support the update of the Control System Requirements;
- Support the safety and SIL classification for Control Systems;
- Contribute to the drafting of Technical Specifications for the procurement of control systems;
- Contribute to the definition of the applicable codes and standards for control systems;
- Support the provision of control requirements for the PLM software;
- Review and monitor the correct implementation of the interfaces between Control System and the rest of the Systems of IFMIF-DONES;
- Contribute to the drafting of Control System design guidelines;
- Support the definition of a standard architecture for the Local Instrumentation and Control Systems (LICS);
- Support the review of the Network Architecture;
- Assess the different SW development framework, including productivity tools and the applicability of emerging technologies such as DevOps, Containers, etc.;
- Support the cable routing of the control and instrumentation signals;
- Support the selection of commercial products and the cubicles standardisation;
- Support the management, monitoring and harmonization of the different control contracts;
- Support the Remote Handling integration with Central Control Systems;
- Contribute to the different project plans: SEMP, QA, CM/DM, Testing and Acceptance, Testing & Commissioning, Procurement Management Plan, and Information Technologies Management Plan; in all aspects related with Control Systems.

**Job requirements**:

- A bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Nuclear Engineering;
- At least 8 years of relevant work experience;
- Experience working in the definition and implementation of complex control systems, i.e., for nuclear plants and/or accelerators;
- Experience in the definition of the hardware and software architecture of control systems;
- Experience in data modelling and databases: Oracle/SQL;
- Experience in interlock design is an asset;
- Experience in CAD tools for electrical and electronic design is an asset;
- Experience in Fast Controllers is an asset;
- Experience in the definition of network architecture (switches/gateways) is an asset;
- Experience in timing systems (NTP/PTP/White Rabbit) is an asset;
- Experience in control simulation tools such as Matlab/Simulink and control toolboxes is an asset;
- Experience in virtualisation containers is an asset;
- Knowledge of the safety standards applicable to control systems;
- Knowledge of EPICS/CSS/OPC-UA/WinCC frameworks;
- Knowledge of software engineering standards. SyML/UML is an asset;
- Knowledge of network protocols such as IEE802.3, Ethercat, Profinet, Modbus, RS-485 is an asset;
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken;
