**UABOS Spain**: Design Engineer Architect, Temporary

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES

Responsible for supervising, planning, and designing engineering projects.

Conducts site investigations to determine existing conditions, user requirements, and obtain dimensional data and required project information.

Responsible for designing buildings & other structures.

Develops architectural building features, floor plans, section, and finish schedules for facility projects designs.

Works with draftsman in preparing background sheets for use by other design disciplines.

Project Manager - Manages all phases of design projects both in-house and A&E to include organizing and scheduling the project, making site visits, and conducting surveys/investigations, conducting design review meetings, and overseeing the completion of the design package (project specifications, drawings, translations, cost estimates, statements of work, etc.).

Conducts Quality Control reviews on completed project design packages.

Prepares design packages for bid by Contracting, conducts technical evaluations of the

contractor’s proposals and participates in project negotiations if required.

Ensures project designs and specifications are in English and the HN language and translations reviewed.

Responsible for other assigned associated duties as assigned.

Supports CE Escort Office when tasked by the CEN to support this function. The field Escort support work will be driving, meeting, and accompanying Base visitors to work sites; and remaining with them at the work sites at all times until they leave the Base. The field work environment will be at construction work sites either outdoors or in buildings where the work is being done. Ability to work outdoors and with Personal Protective Equipment when required.

Read, write, and speak fluent Spanish and English.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS**:
**Preferred**:

- Must have four years’ experience encompassing design and the preparation of plans and specifications for mayor real property facilities. Should be familiar with U.S. Government design and construction procedures.
- The physical requirement of the position includes lifting (up to 15Kg), climbing, extended sitting or standing, or other physical efforts that are normally required in an office environment. As a result, there may be exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and chemicals that may be present at the work sites. For the field activities, driving, walking, and standing in various weather conditions will be required. In both the office work and the field work visual acuity, hearing and speaking requirements will be required.

**Qualifications**:
Have a Bachelor of Science or Higher Degree in Architectural Design from an Accredited College or University. Read, write, and speak fluent Spanish and English. Skill in using computer to include Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.

**Skills**:
Skill in using computer, phone, copier/scanner, radio, and in general all administrative materials during accomplishment of work. Skill in using computer to include Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. Be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
