QA Lead

We are seeking a **QA Lead** to establish, scale, and lead the Quality Assurance function across both of our product lines**:Labster**and **Ubisim**. This role blends **hands-on testing** expertise with strategic leadership, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability.

You will be responsible for driving an **automation-first QA strategy**, reducing reliance on manual testing while ensuring exploratory and edge-case testing are never overlooked. You will also define the **optimal QA team structure**, balancing contractors and full-time employees.

**Responsibilities**
- ** Cross-Product Quality Leadership**
- Define and drive a unifying QA strategy and execution across both Labster and Ubisim product lines.
- Ensure consistent quality practices, while tailoring testing approaches to the unique needs of each product.
- **Automation & Testing**
- Build and scale automation frameworks across UI, API, integration, regression, and Unity.
- Maximize automation coverage to reduce reliance on manual testing while safeguarding space for human-driven discovery.
- Lead exploratory testing efforts to identify risks beyond “happy path” scenarios.
- **Team Leadership & Structure**
- Define the optimal QA team structure, balancing contractors and full-time employees.
- Manage and mentor full-time QA engineers (direct reports).
- Direct and oversee contractor contributions, aligning them with long-term quality goals.
- **Release Management & Process Optimization**
- Partner with product, design, and engineering to refine release processes, balancing quality standards with business priorities.
- Lead bug triage processes, ensuring clear prioritization, ownership and transparency.
- Establish metrics and reporting to track release readiness and product stability.
- **Collaboration & Communication**
- Act as the quality advocate across the organization, bridging QA, product design, and engineering teams.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with distributed teams across Europe and Asia.
- Champion a culture of quality by embedding best practices throughout the development lifecycle.

**Competencies & Skills**
- Proven experience (4+ years) as a QA Lead in enterprise or scaling environments.
- **Strong hands-on automation with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, and Unity test** automation.
- **Experience managing QA resources**: hiring, mentoring, and structuring teams of **full-time employees and contractors.**
- Analytical and proactive mindset with the ability to uncover risks, break products in meaningful ways, and suggest improvements to the testing environment.
- Exceptional issue reporting skills, providing clear reproduction steps and context to ensure efficient understanding and resolution.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional, distributed teams.
- Experience working in Agile environments and defining QA processes in multi-product organizations.

**Nice to have**
- Experience with performance testing in Unity/3D environments (e.g., FPS, GPU/CPU budgets, memory consumption).
- Experience with multiplayer testing scenarios.
- Familiarity with CI/CD environments and ability to work closely with DevOps teams.
- Experience in educational technology or interactive simulations.
- Knowledge of chaos testing or other advanced testing methodologies.
- Knowledge of performance, security, or compliance-driven QA processes.
