Local Unit & Position Description:
We are looking for a Surveyor in Algeciras to join FiS Iberia & Italy Malta, part of the Maritime Region West Europe. Our Fleet in Service unit presently has 40 FIS Surveyors whose main activity is FIS, including occasional and periodical Surveys/Audits. The Team in Algeciras consists of 10 surveyors and we are looking for one new surveyor to join the actual manpower.

The work is taking place both in ships afloat and alongside and attending at Yard/Dry-dock facilities within Algeciras, Gibraltar and Cádiz bay with sporadic surveys at Seville / Huelva. A large variety of vessel types are regularly attended, with a special focus on Container Ships, Ferries, Unitized Dry Cargo vessels, Gas tankers, Oil Carriers, Chemical Carriers, Offshore Service vessels, Crane vessels, Passenger Vessels, and HSLC.

**Main tasks**:
The position we offer is within an enthusiastic and professional team of surveyors reporting to the Team leader FiS (Iberia & Italy/Malta)South ＆ West Iberia FiS (M-WF-IP).

**Key tasks of this role are**:

- Conduct maritime surveys and audits in line with:

- Personal authorizations
- Applicable Rules and Guidelines of the DNV Maritime Service
- Statutory and Flag State requirements
- Compile reports for surveys and/or audits in line with agreed standards
- Compliance with applicable DNV Group Management System Documentation, Operational Health and Safety Management and Environmental Management (QHSE) standards

Position Qualifications:

- University degree or equivalent qualification within a technical discipline
- Experience within the maritime industry beneficial
- Maritime Labour Convention, ISM and ISPS knowledge / qualification would be an advantage
- Excellent written and spoken business-standard English is essential
- Experience as the class & statutory surveyor preferred

- Good communication skills, able to choose appropriate method and approach
- Capable of effectively expressing an opinion and resolving contentious issues sensitively and in a pragmatic manner
- A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate across groups and other offices for shared goals and aims
- Able to combine theoretical knowledge and practical skills
- Possesses a high degree of adaptability and flexibility in an environment of constant change
- Eager to learn and develop and be willing to train and cascade experience and skills to peers with the area
- Good Commercial awareness and solution-orientated (right quality) mindset
- Willingness to travel within the Area to support with survey/audits as required
- Physical abilities are necessary to perform regular functions of the surveys.
