Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting

The Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting is directly accountable, either personally or through direct reports, for the development and implementation of scientifically rigorous epidemiology forecasts of prevalence, incidence, and patient population sizes at a global level. The Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting ensures the appropriate epidemiological perspective is provided in support of strategic needs and integrated into Alexions corporate plans, including leading efforts to ensure epidemiology forecasts are incorporated into all Target Product Profiles (TPPs) along with annual long range corporate revenue planning for pipeline indications and marketed indications. The Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting also ensures all deliverables are performed in the most efficient manner possible, commensurate with budget, quality, accuracy, and timeliness, and in accordance with current advancements in epidemiology methodology. In order to effectively accomplish this, the Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting will develop an epidemiology strategic plan that aligns with corporate needs, and also navigate policies to ensure the plan is executed.

The Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting requires key interactions across the highest levels of Alexion senior leadership in the R&D, Commercial, and Finance organizations, routinely interfacing with crossfunctional leaders in Clinical Development, Investor Relations, Commercial / Marketing, Business Development, and Project Management. Therefore, demonstrated experience in leading across diverse crossfunctional areas in order to meet strategic objectives is key, along with the ability to assess and address stakeholder needs through the use of skills, such as but not limited to, influence, conflict resolution and negotiation. In addition, the Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting may be called upon to represent the department in executivelevel Alexion corporate meetings along supporting interactions with external stakeholders, such as financial investors. In addition, the Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting will provide leadership in R&D crossfunctional initiatives in support of Alexion business or process improvement initiatives.

The Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting may also represent the Epidemiology department in other crossfunctional teams throughout the development lifecycle, and/or supervise other epidemiologists who participate on such teams. Within the department, the Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting routinely provides expert technical guidance and mentoring to other epidemiologists. The Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting also supports the Global Head in the development of the vision for Epidemiology at Alexion, including active writing and maintenance of department Standard Operating Procedures and Process Guides, as well as annual Epidemiology department objectives, which encompasses project planning, resource forecasting and assignments across therapeutic areas. The Senior Director, Epidemiology will additionally work with the Global Head around realworld data source strategy.

Ability to think strategically and leverage epidemiologic expertise and experience across a wide variety of diseases is essential. Strong planning and execution ability, along with excellent communication skills, both written and oral are essential. The Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting is a seasoned and developed technical expert across the departments deliverables of systematic literature reviews, database studies, and observational studies / disease registries. In addition, the Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting is wellversed in, and experienced with, epidemiologic methods, including observational study design, analysis, and interpretation, methods used in the quantification of potential safety signals, disease epidemiology, and the determination of the cause and effect relationships.

This position has direct supervisory responsibility / oversight of department personnel or contractors in the department. The Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting will be accountable for professional development themselves and direct reports. It is also expected that the Senior Director, Epidemiology Forecasting will influence the external environment through leadership in organizations such as industry associations, professional societies, or regulatory working groups.
