We are seeking a Senior Director in Oncology Translational Medicine to join a world class center for discovery and development of innovative cancer medicines. In this role you will be accountable for leading a team for delivery of robust, scientifically-driven biomarkers in drug discovery and development programs for a portfolio of targeted agents across our late phase Antibody-drug conjugate portfolio. You will have the opportunity to impact an industry-leading portfolio of targeted therapy programs from inception through to life cycle management for marketed drugs.

**Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities**:
**Leadership of a portfolio of clinical trials and accountability as a senior expert in translational medicine for late phase Antibody-drug conjugate programs in Lung and pan -tumour indications**
- Developing, or uses expertise to support the development of, strategies and objectives for Translational Medicine in area of responsibility, and ensures these are aligned to broader AstraZeneca goals and objectives
- Leadership of biomarker strategies for a portfolio of clinical trials in late phase Antibody-drug conjugate programs:

- Ensuring delivery of biomarker strategies within oncology project teams.
- Delivering biomarkers for clinical studies based on the best available science and technologies.
- Generating disease linkage data to guide indication selection and targeted patient populations.
- Measuring target engagement reliably and quantifiably to inform clinical decisions for selecting therapeutically relevant doses and schedules.
- Understanding key cancer pathway interactions and feedback mechanisms in clinical samples to guide rational drug combinations.
- Defining novel mechanisms of resistance targeted therapies by studying tumors at relapse.
- Key point of contacts for program wide external alliances and academic collaborations
- Building networks and driving engagement with other teams and external stakeholders and the broader academic communiy to learn about new developments, leverage opportunities and share best practices

**Essential Requirements and Qualifications**:

- PhD and/or MD with at least 10 years of experience in oncology
- Extensive experience in translational medicine, drug discovery and drug development
- Extensive experience in pharmaceutical industry
- In-depth knowledge of oncology disease area biology and translational medicine, with deep expertise in Antibody drug conjugates, lung cancer and other tumour types.
- Proven communication and influencing skills.
- Highly developed problem solving and risk management skills.
- Highly developed collaborative working skills.
- Ability to act as an external ambassador and to influence external organisations to enhance the image and reputation of AstraZeneca.
- Proven ability to mentor, motivate and develop others.
