**Data Protection Counsel Responsibilities**:

- Analyse data-related projects and initiatives to provide practical legal advice across multiple jurisdictions
- Provide support to business and compliance teams on data protection laws and accountability and governance requirements
- Contribute to and support data protection training and compliance programs
- Monitor and respond to developments in privacy and information security (i.e. new laws, regulations, important judgements, regulatory guidance, etc.)

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Solicitor or barrister (qualified to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction)
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant legal experience, including at a law firm or prior in-house experience (applicable litigation, commercial law or regulatory experience will be considered)
- In-depth knowledge of legal issues in the area of the operation of online social media platforms including an excellent understanding of data protection law
- Strong multi-tasking, attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to assess legal, practical and business risks quickly and accurately, as well as thrive in a fast-paced environment and make sound judgments under tight deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to find practical and creative solutions and provide concise and business-focused legal advice
- Keen interest in data protection and technology

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience advising clients on risk assessment and mitigation across technology product platforms
- Prior experience working with internet or technology companies a plus
- Experience working within a global legal team
- Knowledge of, or fluency in, other European languages is a plus
