Piping Engineer Expert

Now, we are looking for a experienced Expert Piping Engineer with experience in Autodesk Plant 3D and Caesar II in our office in Barcelona, Spain.

**What is the role About?**

This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic and leadership responsibilities. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will define and continuously improve the methodology, standards, and tools for piping engineering across projects. You will also take accountability for a team of 20+ engineers and designers, driving technical excellence, quality, consistency, and innovation in plant design execution.

Your main responsibilities will be:

- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for piping engineering and Autodesk Plant 3D, AutoDesk REVIT and Caesar II workflows across the organization.
- Define, implement, and maintain the engineering methodology, including standards, design rules, model governance, and quality assurance procedures.
- Lead the design and layout of complex piping systems using Autodesk Plant 3D, including model setup, spec configuration, and 3D modeling. Ensure readiness and validation of the models before starting the flexibility analysis in Caesar II
- Mentor and coach a multi-disciplinary team of 20+ piping engineers and designers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.
- Drive standardization and efficiency improvements across all piping design activities.
- Ensure alignment with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API) and project/client requirements.
- Coordinate closely with process, mechanical, structural, and civil disciplines to ensure integrated and clash-free designs.
- Lead technical reviews, model walkthroughs, and constructability reviews.
- Support business development and proposal teams with expert input on scope, methodology, and resource planning.
- Act as key liaison with clients and external stakeholders on all piping-related technical matters.
- Provide support during construction, FAT/SAT, and commissioning phases when needed.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in piping engineering, with at least 10 years of hands-on experience using Autodesk Plant 3D and Caesar II software. Experience Experience in pharma, chemical, energy, food or oil & gas sectors is a plus.
- Proven experience managing or leading large teams of engineers and designers (20+ people).
- Strong knowledge of piping materials, spec creation, modular design, and intelligent 3D design environments.
- Expertise with pipe stress analysis software CAESAR II
- Deep understanding of project lifecycle in EPCM or industrial project environments.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written); additional languages are a plus.
