In April 2015, the **Vall d’Hebron**

**Research Institute (VHIR) **obtained

**Responsible of the Preclinical Imaging Platform (PIP)**

**Laboratory Animal Service**

VHIR offers a position to be the Responsible of the Preclinical Imaging Platform (PIP) of the Laboratory

Animal Service (LAS). The PIP belongs to the VHIR pre-clinical core-facilities, providing highly specialized

equipment along with scientific and technical expertise to assist researchers in experimental design and data

analysis.
- PIP’s portfolio comprises:

- Assessment and design of imaging experiments
- Image acquisition and analysis
- Study post-processing

In addition, PIP collaborates with other VHIR core-facilities giving support to biomedical research projects,

and also manages specialized training and teaching activities.

PIP currently imaging modalities:
- Microtomography
- Ultrasonography
- Bioluminescence/Fluorescence (optical imaging)
- Micro PET

This Platform is intended to provide high-quality services to research groups from Vall d’Hebron Campus,

and also to external users who work in different topics like oncology, inflammatory and degenerative

diseases, neurosciences, pneumology, liver and infectious diseases, cardiovascular and neurovascular

diseases, cell therapy or medical imaging research.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Education and qualifications**:
**Required: -**

Degree in Health Sciences (Veterinary, Medicine, or Biology).
- Accreditation on functions b, c, d according to RD 53/2013 and Order ECC/566/2015
- Proficiency in Spanish and English, both written and oral***

Desired:
- PhD in Life Sciences

**Experience and knowledge**:
**Required: -**

Minimum of 1 years’ experience in Preclinical Imaging Core-Facilities as a manager or user: machine use &
handling, maintenance, design & development of research projects.
- Image acquisition and analysis experience of some imaging modality
- Knowledge of some preclinical imaging software for acquisition and analysis
- Experience in laboratory animal handling and experimental techniques (e.g. anesthesia, vascular access,
experimental surgery etc). Knowledge of biosafety standards in the field of barriered rodent facilities.
- Knowledge of quality assurance (traceability, SOPs, etc.)
- Informatics general skills at intermediate level.
- Self-motivated, highly proactive and well-organized person.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication skills and team-working abilities are strongly required.
- Strong customer orientation and service vocation are a must.
