CPSS is changing the way imaging technologies are combined to offer unprecedented insight and impact. Our global Imaging teams combine data from histology, digital pathology, multiplex immunofluorescent assays, advanced molecular imaging techniques including mass spectrometry imaging, lightsheet 3D tissue imaging and in vivo MRI/CT/IVIS/PET/SPECT to understand the spatial biology of disease and drug discovery.
This position offers the opportunity to be involved in the investigation of both the safety and efficacy of drugs within our projects in both a preclinical and clinical setting. We believe this is a truly exciting opportunity.
**The Role**
You will support drug discovery project portfolio delivering 3D image analysis endpoints. You will develop image analysis algorithms and tailored innovative computer vision models for both 2D and 3D tissue and in vivo imaging modalities (MRI, CT, IVIS, PET, SPECT, 3D Lightsheet) across multiple therapeutic areas. You will be fully connected with our global imaging teams offering access to our full suite of technologies.
You will take a accountability in delivering established and innovative 3D image analysis for imaging data sets. Providing expertise in image processing, segmentation and quantitative analysis using both established image analysis software as well as other computer vision based machine learning and deep learning approaches to derive solutions to a range of problems in biomedical images. Working in a highly multidisciplinary environment with scientists across AstraZeneca.
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Drive the delivery of impact to drug projects through image analysis support across all AZ therapy areas
- Lead scoping of analytics solutions for high-priority drug development projects
- Engage & collaborate globally with internal project teams and In Vivo Imaging scientists to manage, prepare and analyze images to define analysis plans and derive features for analysis
- Construct a data analysis plans with defined timelines and deliverables
- Lead on development of image analysis solutions to address current and future business requirements
- Implement development plans and assure on-time delivery.
- Build collaborative networks with both local and global image analysis community within AZ and externally
- Perform data analyses and visualization, including analytics associating image analysis features with drug treatments, response and survival data, genetic features and other sample attributes using AI powered image analysis, statistical and other tools
- Active participation in the development and use of FAIR standards to deliver image management and analysis systems, processes, tools and technology to support current and future analyses and data insights to support AZ drug development portfolio
- Communicates project results, conclusions, and recommendations effectively to colleagues, teams and collaborators through written reports and oral presentations at internal meetings
**Essential Requirements**:
- Knowledge of 3D in vivo or tissue imaging modalities including MRI/CT/PET/SPECT/IVIS/microCT would be an advantage.
- Proven experience of performing image processing, segmentation, classification and analysis of 3D imaging data
- Proven experience delivering relevant computer vision approaches using either relevant commercial image analysis software packages or bespoken programming skills in one or more analytics packages including Python, C++, MATLAB, Tensorflow etc
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to handle several concurrent, fast-paced projects.
