**What are we looking for?** We are looking for an enthusiastic Computational Linguist, with a deep knowledge of Portuguese language, to join our Lexicon team. You will work in a team with other linguists and developers, taking part in tasks for the improvement of our Portuguese lexicon, testing the quality of our linguistic preprocessing, as well as participating in the definition and development of new tools to manage and analyze large amounts of linguistic data. **Your main responsibilities will be**: - Improving our lexical resources in Portuguese (mainly Brazilian variety). - Analyzing linguistic corpora to detect linguistic features that need to be understood by our NLP tools. - Using the power of large amounts of data to tackle sophisticated NLP and machine learning problems. - Analyzing data and making data-driven decisions to improve the quality of our natural language preprocessing. - Identifying potential improvements in our current lexicon edition and Natural Language Understanding tools. - Assist the linguistic team with their needs for corpus analysis, linguistic data management, and analysis tools, and develop basic scripts for their everyday tasks. **Requirements**: Education and experience: - Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics, Translation, Language Studies, or similar discipline. - Fluent in English, Spanish, and/or Catalan. - Demonstrated proficiency level of Portuguese. In particular, outstanding knowledge of the semantics, syntax, grammar, orthography, and linguistic varieties of this language. - Knowledge of other languages will be a plus. - Mandatory experience with Python. - Knowledge of Text Processing and NLP techniques. - Since you’ll be working with databases, knowledge of SQL will be required.
