Visual Verification and Newsgathering Producer

**Reuters** is looking for someone to join its leading-edge **Visual Verification Team**.

You will be based in the new Barcelona newsroom and collaborate with colleagues across all disciplines to tell stories in many ways.

Using the latest open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools and techniques you will verify breaking news content, analyse visuals from conflict zones and contribute to special reports, insights and investigations.

Through your ability to search, verify and clear permission for content - your work will impact millions of people through the thousands of broadcasters, digital and text clients Reuters has around the world.

This is a full-time role that demands flexibility to work long hours and some weekends.

**About the Role**:
As our **Visual Verification & Newsgathering Producer**you will:

- Scan the internet for visuals of breaking news, conflicts and trends to quickly identify original sources and uploads
- Use your interpersonal skills to speak to sources, ask them questions and get clearance for Reuters to distribute their content
- Use OSINT techniques and tools such as satellite, file imagery, metadata, weather data and other evidence to forensically analyse videos and photographs to establish if they are old, misleading, tampered with or AI-generated
- Follow closely the biggest international stories of the day
- Track trends and pitch human-led stories
- Collaborate with colleagues on special reports and investigations

- Confident and calm in breaking news situations
- Good at multi-tasking under pressure
- Knowledgeable about the latest OSINT tools and verification processes
- Fascinated by international news
- Passionate about telling human-led stories
- Good at finding untold stories that go beyond the headlines
- Ambitious to find and cover stories that will have an impact
- Following the latest developments in the digital industry including regarding
- artificial intelligence
- Good at working in a team environment and solo
- Proficient at speaking and writing English

Prior experience in social media newsgathering, verification, OSINT work or fact checking would present a clear advantage. However, as full training will be given, a willingness to learn quickly, communicate clearly and work well under pressure are just as important.
