Overview:
IE University (IEU) is a private university with campuses located in Segovia and Madrid (Spain). IEU programs are run in English and Spanish and are compliant with the terms of the European Higher Education Area (Bologna Accords). The University is comprised by five schools and a transversal unit, the Arts and Humanities Division.

The Executive Director is responsible for the management of the academic programs of the unit, the supervision of the Language Center and the Antiquity & Middle Ages Research Centre, the management of the Humanities Prizes, and any other curricular and extracurricular initiatives and partnerships of the Division. The Executive Director will assist the leadership team in the execution of the Division’s strategy across its activities. The Executive Director will represent the Division externally when necessary and will interact with faculty, students, different departments of IE and external agencies as decision-maker on operational matters. The Executive Director will report to the Vice Dean for Management and Development and will manage the unit´s team.

**Responsibilities**:
**Internal, External and Operational Coordination**:

- Ensure the appropriate implementation of academic policies.
- Prepare the budget of the Division together with the Vice Dean for Management and Development. Responsibly comply with the budget and support in its appropriate implementation.
- Lead and coordinate certain activities and projects that are key to the academic programs’ success: openings and graduations, special activities, immersion weeks, electives, extracurricular activities, etc.
- Work closely with the Vice Deans to promote curriculum innovation, mainly as to the viability of these ideas, possible reactions from the students to them, etc.
- Attend all Directors’ Coordination Meetings and liaise with other programs’ Executive Directors and program staff.
- Represent the Division in meetings with external public agencies (ACSUCYL, ANECA) and coordinate with Ordenación Académica on the elaboration of official and periodical reports.
- Supervise and take necessary measures to guarantee the validity of the program according to the Bologna Agreement that regulates the European Zone of superior education.
- Coordinate operational issues related to the academic programs with other internal departments as required (admissions, marketing, communications, international development, finance planning & control, administration, careers, alumni relations, corporate and institutional relations, international mobility, facilities, IT, human resources, campus life )

**Team Management**:

- Support in the selection and recruitment of the Division´s team as well as evaluate the performance of each team member under the overall supervision of the Vice Dean for Management and Development.
- Ensure the proper running of programs operations by supervising the work of the programs management team.
- Related to the previous point, interact with all School Departments that directly or indirectly participate in the development of the program and student services.

**Student and Faculty Management**:

- Take ultimate responsibility for the overall academic program delivery.
- Ensure timely and smooth communication and relationships with students, faculty and administration regarding academic programs.
- Evaluate and improve overall student experience.
- Attend to students who need support, help or that need to solve a problem and have not been able to solve it in previous instances because of the complexity or exceptionality of their situation.
- Direct communication with the professors who teach in their programs to ensure that they know the contents of the program perfectly, the profile of the students, request class marks in a timely manner; discuss possible contingencies that may arise to solve any problems in the best way possible.
- Communicate the minimum academic grade for students who do not exceed certain criteria established in the academic guide.
- Collaborate with the Vice Dean when deciding on whether or not to raise a case to the Ethics Committee informing the Committee members of the case details for later deliberation.

**Development**:

- Monitor the educational market and help develop and launch new programs at the Division.
- Lead strategic and special projects as agreed with the Division leadership team.
- Foster genuine partnerships with external stakeholders as well as promote, coordinate and support corporate initiatives within the ecosystem of arts and humanities, which may include capstone projects, seminars, international competitions, simulations, speaker-series, international exchanges, dual degrees, study treks, student clubs and other extra-curricular activities.
- Support the broader knowledge ecosystem of centers and initiatives at the Division.
