**Overview** The Director of Medical Affairs & Clinical Operations Europe will be reporting to and supporting VP Medical Affairs Europe to meet or exceed business goals for all assigned MSL teams. They will support Medical Affairs personnel across multiple client accounts. The incumbent will ensure that by supporting and managing our MSLs, our customers’ expectations and goals are identified, measurable, time-bound, and attainable. The incumbent will help identify, develop, and implement actions to achieve operational excellence and cost efficiency and will cultivate long-term relationships with other Syneos Health senior management across Syneos Health Consulting, Clinical, and Commercial business segments. The incumbent will be a trusted partner and Subject Matter Expert (SME) in providing strategic insight and medical & clinical knowledge in support of proposal responses and awarded projects and will also play an integral role in hiring and operationalising field medical teams on the behalf of our clients. **Responsibilities** - Demonstrates scientific, medical and clinical understanding of relevant disease states, products, and guidelines to address unmet needs, drive scientific leadership and find patient-centred approaches throughout the organisation - Develops and grows the Medical Affairs and field medical practice that is "best in class" and the leading supplier of contracted MSLs and other Medical Affairs roles within the pharmaceutical and biotech industries - Helps build and supports high-performance teams by establishing clear performance standards, hiring and retaining the best talent and structuring development strategies - Identifies the core competencies required to develop and influence relationships based on scientific interchange and to develop the organisation staff and future leaders - Helps and supports field medical teams how to meet or exceed project contractual performance goals under their direction - Provides field medical teams and individuals with the coaching and counselling that will result in exceptional performance - Supports the Global Medical Affairs Leadership in optimization of operational processes and key performance indicators including internal training, tracking performance against objectives, supporting the monitoring of compliance with internal and external governance and best practice requirements **Job Requirements** - Degree in a scientific discipline (or equivalent) PharmD, MD, PhD preferred - Significant leadership and field and/or office-based Medical Affairs and/or Clinical Development team management experience - Past experience in a CCO or CRO will be a plus - Highly resourceful and strategic thinker with strong emotional intelligence, operational rigor and project management capabilities, able to directly manage a multinational teams - Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills across functions and leadership teams; comfort in business and technical discussions - Superior presentation and listening skills and commitment to instilling standards of excellence in the Medical Affairs organisation - Strength in clinical, business, and emotional intelligence as well as information systems and technology - Ability to articulate the value proposition of Medical Affairs to existing and potential clients - Ability to create credibility with clients that leads to business growth - Ability to adapt to changing internal and external environments - Ability to travel as needed Interviews may be conducted in person at an on-site interview location.
