This partnership underscores Serco's commitment to advancing Space science and technology, making it an ideal environment for professionals seeking to contribute to ground breaking Space projects.We are currently looking for a Software Product Assurance (PA) Engineer to support the European Space Agency (ESA) at the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC) in the development and operations of scientific missions. The job is required to be performed at the European Space Astronomy Centre premises located in Villanueva de la Cañada, Madrid, Spain with teleworking.In this role you will support the development and operations team in the definition of the processes and the quality levels of the software developed to fulfil the requirements defined by the European Space Agency. You will be the Scrum Master and will propose and implement Agile practices to improve the efficiency of the team. You will become the point of reference regarding standards for software development and operations and will interact with a wider group of PA engineers, sharing knowledge and good practices and improving along the way.Main ResponsibilitiesGuide the team’s work towards the fulfillment of programmatic and technical Software Product Assurance requirementsScrum Master of the development and operations teamsPerform Software PA analysis and generate reports and technical documentationMaintain PA processes and proceduresParticipate in reviews, meetings and software review boards as neededContribute to software product evaluation and process assessment, including the definition of the metrication programSupport the teams in the verification and validation activities at all levels and with the formalities associatedLead and support the continuous improvement processSupport the team with the Continuous Integration process and tools usedMaintain the corresponding databases for tracking software issues, actions as required.Support the risk management processSuccessful CandidateMaster’s degree in engineering or scientific areaRelevant experience in software development and/or software Product AssurancePractical experience implementing ECSS standards, especially those applicable to softwareKnowledge and proven experience in:Software engineering processesProduct Assurance processesConfiguration of complex systemsTools: JIRA/Confluence, Jenkins, git, Maven and SonarQube or equivalentTest automation, load and performance testing and toolsExperience working with Agile methodologies, mainly SCRUM/Kanban, and familiarity with DevOps practicesBackground knowledge in the following areas would be an asset:ESA software engineering processes and standardsSoftware licensingScience operationsAbout the CompanyWhy should you join Serco?At Serco not only is the nature of the work we do important, everyone has an important role to play.Meaningful and vital work- You’ll contribute to methodologically intercepting challenges whilst achievements will also be recognised and celebrated.A world of opportunity- You’ll be wholeheartedly supported with development and career progression.Great people- You’ll become an integral member of a well-defined and supportive team who believe passionately in the value of our work.
