UX Designer - Infrastructure Join Canonical as a UX Designer for Infrastructure, working with engineering teams to create open‑source tools used for building clouds and managing clusters. Responsibilities Build tools that enable users to create their own cloud experiences (MAAS, LXD, MicroCloud, Canonical k8s). Collaborate with product managers and engineers to shape the future of the data center: self‑sovereign clouds. Support deeply complex products with design process and UX heuristics. Help evolve and evangelise design systems that drive consistency and efficiency. Understand the broader scope of your work and its interconnected constraints. Support a working group to enable Canonical design's horizontal efforts. Represent design in cross‑functional meetings, presenting clearly and precisely. What we are looking for in you Exceptional academic track record from high school and university. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in User Experience, Design, STEM, or a compelling narrative showing a non‑traditional path. Excitement about building things and working with real hardware. Knowledge and passion for user experience, technology and design. Commitment to continuous learning and improvement—curious, flexible, scientific. Result‑oriented with a drive to finish work and celebrate success. Confidence in user research practices. Engagement with the latest design research and innovation. Ability to travel internationally twice a year, up to two weeks for company events. Additional context for UX designers UX designers should be excellent communicators who are comfortable working with engineers, designers, and executives. They represent the team at cross‑functional meetings and must present their design position with clarity and precision. They should be confident, excited to tackle complex design challenges, and connect their leadership to the company's strategic vision.
