Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
  • Experience with performing component-level repairs on IT equipment.
  • Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and exert physical effort over extended periods, including bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, nights, holidays, and shift-based schedules.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Completion of the online Google IT Support Professional Certificate program.
  • 2 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, hardware, or networking protocols.
  • Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
About The Job

Google's Hardware Operations team monitors the physical infrastructure supporting Google's search technology. As an Operations Technician, you'll install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware and server software, including network components. You may lead small project teams and develop contingency plans. The role involves physical tasks like moving and installing racks, working with cutting-edge technology.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment or infrastructure.
  • Maintain data security and integrity, following Google standards.
  • Disassemble equipment at end-of-life for part replacement or maintenance.
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on hardware and infrastructure.
