I´m seeking a Senior Data Engineer GCP - (12-month contract as an Interim Manager or Freelancer Autonomo). We seek an experienced Senior Data Engineer with expertise in building and optimizing large-scale data systems, automating ETL pipelines, and managing the Google Cloud Platform (GCP, Snowflake). The ideal candidate is proficient in Python and SQL, and experienced in scaling workflows for high-performance architectures. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required. We are open to working with Freelancers or Interim Managers for a long-term project based in Barcelona, Spain.Description:We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in designing, building, and optimizing large-scale data systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in automating ETL pipelines, managing data architectures, and working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Snowflake. This role will involve ensuring data scalability, reliability, and efficiency across the organization.Key Responsibilities:Design and build scalable data systems to support business intelligence, analytics, and data science needs.Develop and maintain automated ETL pipelines, ensuring data is processed accurately and efficiently.Optimize data workflows to improve the performance and reliability of high-performance architectures.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data needs and deliver relevant solutions.Manage and optimize data storage and processing using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and Snowflake.Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure data integrity and accessibility.Identify and troubleshoot issues within the data architecture, proposing and implementing solutions to improve overall system performance.Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement.Required Skills & Qualifications:Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and data manipulation.Advanced knowledge of SQL for data querying and optimization.Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically in data storage, processing, and security.Strong expertise with Snowflake for data warehousing and analytics.Proven experience in building, maintaining, and optimizing ETL pipelines.Experience in scaling workflows for large-scale, high-performance data architectures.Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices for data systems.Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving system performance and efficiency.Strong communication skills, with fluency in both English and Spanish.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Apache Airflow or similar orchestration tools.Familiarity with big data tools such as Apache Spark or Hadoop.Understanding of data security and compliance best practices in cloud environments.Prior experience working in agile development environments.If you are a data engineering expert with a passion for building efficient, scalable systems, we encourage you to apply
