Practice Area

BCG Platinion launched in Germany in 2000 to add deep technical expertise to the Boston Consulting Group’s existing capabilities. Today, our presence spans across the globe, with offices in Asia, Europe, and South and North America. Our New York-based North American team began in 2014 and in 2017 acquired MAYA Design, a Pittsburgh-based digital design and innovation lab, to grow our capabilities around technology and design.

We support our clients’ total digital transformation through technology, design, cybersecurity, and risk management & financial engineering capabilities. And together with BCG, BCG Platinion’s interdisciplinary team of technical experts enable customized technical solutions and accelerate delivery value through new business platforms, application consolidations, and major system implementations.

What You'll Do

As a Senior IT Architect, you will work closely with case team members to assess and coach our clients' IT teams, define IT strategies, architecture solutions and apply your technical know-how and understanding of business contexts. You will be responsible for owning the delivery for a specific project "module" and help develop technical concepts for that "module". You will coach other project members and help lead other consultants in their own work stream, when possible.

As part of BCG Platinion consulting team, you would work on variety of technology topics, applying our architectural consulting skills to strategic technology questions. You will be supported by an extensive training curriculum (the same program as all BCG consultants), plus technology-specific training and mentoring to help you build your skills.

What You'll Bring

- Between 6 - 10 years in data strategy, technical project management, or technology consulting with a proven track record in leading IT implementation projects.

Technical Skills:

- Proficient in designing robust data architectures, including data platforms and pipelines, with a strong focus on ETL processes using cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle Cloud).
- Extensive hands-on experience in implementing data solutions using a variety of platforms such as Apache Hadoop ecosystem (including Kafka, Storm, and Spark), Elastic Search, and other related technologies.
- Expertise in both relational (SQL) and non-relational databases (such as Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB), with a solid understanding of Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) and non-MPP data storage systems.

Data Systems Expertise:

- Strong background in data integration platforms, orchestrating complex data workflows and transformations using tools such as DataStage, Informatica, and Data Factory.
- General knowledge of data storage, query, processing and exposition technologies and trade-offs
- Experience in the design and implementation of Data & Analytics (D&A) operation scaling process framework (DataOps and MLOps), in order to ensure the productivity, reliability and security of a Data platform.

- Proven experience in designing and implementing forward-thinking Data Mesh architecture models that align with business goals and support scalability.

Desirable Expertise:

- Familiarity with regulations and compliance standards relevant to data security and privacy (such as GDPR, CCPA).
- Proficient in implementing data governance and stewardship frameworks to enhance data quality and ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards, such as GDPR and CCPA. Skilled in deploying Data Loss Prevention (DLP) strategies to safeguard critical information

Interpersonal & Leadership Skills:

- A strong analytical mindset for evaluating complex IT application landscapes and optimizing development processes.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and provide technical leadership.
- Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in data architecture to guide strategic decisions and innovations.

Industry Experience:

- Strong experience in either the banking or energy sector, demonstrating a proven track record in major projects and innovations within one of these industries.
