In addition to our cutting-edge scientific achievements, we have established lasting ties with industrial partners and created several spin-off companies.Hosting groupLearning and Machine Perception Group (LAMP), led by Dr. Joost van de Weijer, performs research on continual learning, active learning, generative models, transfer learning, and self-supervised learning. For more information on the LAMP team visit: LAMP Team.Context and MissionWe are seeking a postdoc to join the Learning and Machine Perception (LAMP) team. This is a temporary position for 6 months.The selected candidate will work on optimization techniques for fast retraining of deep neural networks. The project is within the context of sustainable AI, where the current paradigm of retraining from scratch is replaced by a methodology based on continual learning of networks. The focus will be on optimization techniques which prevent the stability gap (which temporarily reduces the network performance).The tasks include:Implementation of algorithms for fast adaptation to new data.Writing of the research results in a publication.Supervision of master and/or PhD students related to the project.Candidate’s profileRequirementsThe candidate must possess a PhD in computer vision or machine learning.Strong publication record. We are looking for candidates who have publications in the top conferences CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, NIPS, ICML, or ICLR.Background in machine learning and deep learning.Knowledge of continual learning and optimization theory is desired but not mandatory.Experience in competitive research projects in public research institutions will be highly evaluated (18 months minimum).Other meritsExperience superior to that required in similar positions.Valuable experience in Catalan public research entities.Evaluation of applications:Candidatures that meet the above requirements will be evaluated using the following criteria:Requirements of the candidates (50 points).Other merits (25 extra points each).ConditionsThe position will be located at Computer Vision Center (Campus Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week) temporary contract.Duration: 6 monthsSalary in accordance with qualifications and experience of the candidate and to CVC's salary regulations.Starting date: December 1st, 2024Applications procedure and processAll applications must be sent through the online form and include a full CV and contact details.The deadline for submitting applications is November 26th, 2024.OTM-R principles for selection processesThe CVC is committed to Open Transparent and Merit-based Recruitment (OTM-R) for any potential candidate in all our processes.
