We create engineered components and subsystems that deliver extreme precision and performance for mission‑critical applications such as minimally invasive surgery, robotics, and 3D metal printing.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain Java applications for IoT devices.Implement new features and functionality for RFID reader systems.Debug and resolve software issues in embedded environments.Optimize code performance and memory usage.Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless hardware–software integration.Participate in code reviews and maintain high coding standards.Create and maintain technical documentation.Support testing and validation of firmware releases.Future opportunity to lead the Java development team if skilled and interested.Required Experience, Education, and SkillsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of experience in Java development, preferably in embedded systems.Strong understanding of embedded Java programming.Experience with real‑time systems and multi‑threading.Experience working in Linux and using the command line.Knowledge of network programming and communication protocols is a plus.Familiarity with RFID technology and RF systems is a plus.Experience with version control systems (Git) and agile development methodologies.Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.Fluent in English (Spanish is a big advantage).BenefitsCompany that designs and manufactures worldwide RFID equipment for the retail sector.Flexible working hours.23 days off + 2 extra days.1–2 days per week working from home possible.New 4000 sqm corporate building next to Westfield La Maquinista.Specialty coffee, tea, and table tennis.Support for online training programs.Young and dynamic work environment with opportunity to learn from real professionals.Opportunity to grow in a fast‑paced international company.Novanta is proud to be an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action workplace.
