Our Headquarters and Technology Centers are located in the US and Europe, and our workforce is more than 7,000 strong.OverviewReporting to R&D Assay Development Manager, the Scientist II performs a broad range of laboratory work requiring application of professional judgment in the selection of specialized methods and techniques, and their application to specific tasks. Provides project updates. Performs duties in research and development including the ability to perform specialized lab techniques and good laboratory documentation practices.ResponsibilitiesKey AccountabilitiesPerforms an expanded range of laboratory procedures and experimentsPeriodically communicates problems, and progress to supervisorOccasionally communicates status updates and results across the organizationPresents results to senior/other research staffSelects appropriate experimental and analytical methods and define protocolsSchedules own and team tasks and activities in accordance with assignments and prioritiesDetects deviations in results and potential problems, recommends modification in protocols or standard methodology to define the causes of deviations and overcome problemsUnder the supervision and approval of his/her supervisor, writes specialized laboratory procedures and reviews existing Procedures and MethodsCompiles and interprets experimental data, performs calculations and prepares graphs to present and discuss them to his/her supervisorWrites research papers, reports, reviews, and technical summariesReview electronic or paper laboratory notebook making sure that all data is accurately recorded in accordance with guidelines and proceduresInternal NetworkingTo be determined based on department needs, to include interactions such as:Mainly with R&D, Quality and Operations colleaguesQualificationsMinimum Knowledge & Experience required for the positionRequired: Bachelor's degree (Diplomatura) in the biological or related sciences.Degree may be substituted by relevant skills and work experienceValuable: Any additional degree higher than that required in the previous sectionYears of experienceFour (4) years previous scientific/in vitro diagnostic research experience requiredMin knowledgeLaboratory experienceBasic knowledge of biological and chemical laboratory procedures.Ability to operate laboratory equipmentKnowledge of basic software tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of SAP preferredLanguage: Fluency in Spanish or Catalan.
