This role assesses how well the product meets customer needs both in terms of functionality and usability and ensures that product requirements and quality standards are satisfied. The role works closely with other members of the product creation team and communicates with technical specialists on product issues.The verification engineer will research new engineering features in order to create analytical and user scenario test cases to evaluate the functionality and performance of capabilities being added to our engineering simulation software. As part of the software testing of the ANSYS Mechanical suite of applications, a verification engineer programs and maintains automated testing scripts and software tools. This person participates in requirements planning, design reviews and investigating defects.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesSpecify and write test cases, create, modify and update existing tests, write and maintain test scriptsPerform functional, application, regression and performance testing in manual and/or automated test environments and investigate possible causes of problemsCreate test plans, participate in defect management and testing metricsApply standard techniques and procedures and comply with the company's overall development and testing processesWork in a variety of computing environments: Linux, Windows, Virtual, Compute Clusters, CloudTests products at all levels: Workflow, Unit, Application, PerformanceWorks closely with other members of the product creation team and communicates with technical support specialists on product issuesCoordinates with other teams to address cross team dependenciesMinimum Education / Certification Requirements and ExperienceBS in mechanical, civil, or structural engineering with 2 years of experience, or MS with no experienceStrong knowledge of structural and computational mechanicsExperience and/or academic exposure with FEA and CAE tools with knowledge of FE methodsProficient in one or more programming or scripting languages: Python, C++, C#, Jscript, PerlPreferred Qualifications and SkillsTechnical knowledge and experience with explicit dynamics, structural dynamics and numerical methods is desiredExperience in a large-scale commercial software testing and verification environmentPhD degree will be consideredStrong programming skills are highly desirableExperience with ANSYS structural mechanics products, LS-DYNA, AUTODYN, Explicit would be a clear advantageExperience with both LINUX and Windows platforms preferredCompetent in the use of general office software applications such as mail tools, document editors, spreadsheets and databasesA thorough and careful approach to work; close attention to details and quality; strong organizational skillsAbility to establish good working relationships with Development, Testing, and Support staffExcellent written and oral communication skills in the English languageAble to troubleshoot by simplifying complex systems, debugging, and finding root causesAbility to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed teamINCLUSION IS AT OUR COREWe believe diverse thinking leads to better outcomes.
