Cloud Systems Engineer

OpenNebula Systems is leading the development of European open source technology to manage corporate data centers and build Enterprise Clouds. We are hiring a Cloud Systems Engineer to join our team in Europe, developing the next generation management platform for the Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum.Job Description: Cloud Systems Engineers are responsible for deploying and supporting large edge and cloud-based use cases, pilot and POC systems, and services. They work on complicated technical issues, resolving them promptly and efficiently.Responsibilities:Designing, integrating, deploying, and maintaining large cloud-based solutions, systems, and servicesEnsuring efficient functioning of cloud functions in accordance with best practicesInteracting with users and use cases, providing systems support, system architecture definition, making recommendations based on user needs, implementation, testing, user training, and deployment of open source solutionsTroubleshooting incidents, identifying root causes, fixing and documenting problems, and implementing preventive measuresMonitoring installed systems and infrastructure, monitoring and troubleshooting the performance and issues of the cloud system, and updating and maintaining the cloud systemDelivering quality performance indicators within the scope of the assigned project, including project journals, status reports, and other standard documentationWorking with other companies in the cloud-edge ecosystem within international projects and open-source communities, with occasional travel and participation in international events and meetingsWorking with development teams in the escalation of support issues, the use cases and solutions team in discovery and demo sessions, and the community team in contributions to the open-source communityWriting and maintaining software documentation and project reportsExperience Required:Academic Background and Certifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Professional Experience: Hands-on experience in cloud systems integration and support using open-source technologiesExperience with Cloud Management platforms and their associated technologies, understanding the implication of managing virtualized infrastructures and the orchestration of the underlying subsystemsTechnical Experience:Experience in developing and maintaining Ruby code base for system applications, with knowledge of computing systems integration and interaction with operating system facilities like I/O, networking, and virtualizationExperience integrating computing systems, especially related to virtualization, storage, and networking, with knowledge of KVM/QEMU virtualization, storage systems, and Linux networking stackExperience writing Terraform modules and managing deployments of virtualized infrastructures with TerraformExperience deploying and using monitoring and alerting tools like Prometheus, designing monitoring metrics and associated data structure, and analyzing usage reports obtained from the monitor dataLanguage Skills: English fluency at a professional or native-equivalent level, with excellent clarity and expression in both writing and speech.Soft Skills & Collaboration: Strong customer service mindset, with a focus on responsiveness and user satisfaction, clear communication and documentation, self-management and accountability, and technical autonomy and tool proficiencyWhat's in it for me?: We offer a competitive compensation package, flexible remuneration options, customized workstation, private health insurance, flexible working hours, and a healthy work-life balance.Note: We are an all-remote company with offices in Madrid, Boston, and Brno, and we encourage digital disconnection and promote harmony between employees' personal and professional lives. #J-18808-Ljbffr
