PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Head of Master Data leads and implements the organization’s master data strategy. This role involves collaborating with business leaders, IT executives and data experts to foster a data-driven decision-making culture. This includes defining data vision, goals and enhancing master data solutions for a unified view. The position holder manages a team of data professionals to achieve excellence in defining data governance policies and aligning data management with partner teams and departments. This role reports to the Global Finance Systems Head and can be based in Basel or Milan. This position requires travel at maximum 10%.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and Vision
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive group master data strategy
  • Collaborates with key internal stakeholders to define the data vision, goals, principles, and roadmap
Data Management and Compliance
  • Manages the enhancement of master data solutions and principles across various business domains for a unified view
  • Partners with IT to align data management with infrastructure, ensuring efficient data storage, processing, and accessibility
  • Establishes data governance policies, standards, and processes to ensure data quality, security, and compliance
  • Manages data ethics and privacy by ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical guidelines and developing policies and procedures to protect sensitive data
Data Utilization and Analytics
  • Fosters a data-driven culture by driving data accuracy, innovation, and analytics, and providing education and training to support change management
  • Partners with business stakeholders to leverage data for business improvement opportunities and lead initiatives for data-driven solutions, predictive models, and machine learning applications
Team Leadership and Partnerships
  • Leads, hires, develops, and manages a team of data professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
  • Establishes and maintains data partnerships with external organizations, vendors, and industry experts to enhance data sharing and access
  • Explores opportunities for data monetization and value creation

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Master's degree in computer science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in master data, data management and / or data governance
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing master data management (MDM) initiatives across various domains
  • Skilled in data analysis and data cleansing
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve data-driven business objectives
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to drive organizational change
  • Deep understanding of data analytics techniques, including machine learning and artificial intelligence
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking ability
