Firmware Engineer

We are looking for a Firmware Developer with 3–4 years of experience to join their R&D team in a fast-growing startup environment. In this role, you will design and implement cutting-edge firmware for embedded systems and optical transceivers, contributing directly to the growth and success of the company.Key Responsibilities:- Participate in feasibility studies and draft initial firmware architecture.- Collaborate with hardware and system engineers using Scrum methodology.- Design and implement firmware for optical transceivers, including peripheral drivers and communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART).- Implement host interfaces based on CMIS/MIS standards.- Develop firmware ahead of hardware availability using emulators or evaluation boards.- Conduct bring-up and debugging on prototypes using lab instruments (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol sniffers).- Execute firmware validation and DVT to ensure functional requirements.- Support integration and system-level testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.Requirements:- Degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or similar.- 3–4 years of experience in embedded firmware development (ARM microcontrollers, RTOS).- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python.- Knowledge of I2C, SPI, UART, MDIO, and debugging tools (J-Link, JTAG/SWD).- Familiarity with Git, Bitbucket, Jira, Jenkins, and unit testing frameworks.- Experience with schematic review and hardware verification.- Agile development experience (Scrum).- Full professional proficiency in English.- Any experience in optical equipment or pluggable optics is an advantage.What We Offer:- Permanent contract in a dynamic startup environment.- Location: Málaga (Spain).- Competitive salary aligned with experience (approx. €50k–€60k gross/year).- Flexible work model with some remote days highly valued.- Professional growth and continuous learning opportunities.
