Job Opportunity : Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a First Party Claims Senior Adjuster to join our dynamic Claims team in Madrid. The individual will be responsible for coordinating the adjustment of a variety of first party claims (commercial property, energy, construction, surety and marine) across the portfolio. This is an opportunity to work within a highly collaborative team environment dedicated to best in class claims handling. Duties & Responsibilities : Managing first party (commercial property, energy, construction, surety and marine) claims Proactively investigate and handle claims from first notice of loss through ultimate resolution while advising internal stakeholders and meeting with clients and brokers as required. Collaborating with customers, brokers, independent adjusters and lawyers Prepare reports, accurately set reserves within handling authority, or make claim recommendations concerning reserve changes. Work alongside underwriters and other business partners to add value to our service proposition. Will report directly to the Head of Claims (Spain). Qualifications, Skills and Experience : Should have capability of handling large and complex claims. First party insurance experience dealing with Lead and Follow claims A minimum 3 years of property claim handling experience and / or additional jurisdictions or matching equivalency Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
