Job Description Project Description: We are building a cross-company Google Cloud Platform called "Energy Cloud" as the central data hub for our digitalization efforts. The goal is to automate end-to-end business processes and enable data-driven decision-making. Our existing Google Cloud instance will be expanded by integrating further relevant data sources and establishing a modern, scalable data architecture. One workstream of the Energy Cloud project is digitizing the data and processes of our finance department, which you will be working with mostly. Activity Description: You will join the finance department of PASM and work closely with business owners from controlling and accounting as well as potentially a data scientist currently in the hiring process. You will furthermore receive input & sparring from the main data science team. Work will mostly be virtual with dedicated onsite sessions in Germany. You focus will be on creating a reliable, state of the art database and suitable structures and processes to translate from raw data into data products ready for further processing and visualization. Key success factors in the position are not only relevant skills, but especially the ability to acquire business and finance knowledge/terminology, build an understanding of the relevant data and understand the needs of business owners. Qualifications Senior Data Engineer (GCP) Role Summary We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with strong hands-on experience in building data pipelines and data products on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), as well as experience in SAP. This role focuses on implementation, data modeling, pipeline development, and ensuring data quality and performance, with a strong emphasis on finance data. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with finance stakeholders to understand requirements, analyze their data, propose solutions, and implement them. Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using GCP services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions/Run). Develop efficient SQL and Python-based transformations and workflows. Model and optimize data structures for analytics, reporting, and downstream applications. Implement data ingestion from APIs, files, and third-party systems. Ensure data quality, monitoring, testing, and documentation across the pipeline lifecycle. Required Skills & Experience Strong hands-on experience with GCP (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Pub/Sub). Expert SQL skills and solid Python development experience. Deep understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, data modeling, and pipeline orchestration. Experience with common SAP modules and data structures. Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform). Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Cloud Composer/Airflow). Ability to write clean, maintainable, production-grade code. Familiarity with CI/CD, version control, and testing best practices for data pipelines. Nice-to-Have Familiarity with BI tools or data product concepts. Basic solution design or architecture knowledge — ability to contribute to designs when needed. Experience with dbt. Experience with streaming pipelines (Pub/Sub + Dataflow).
