The IAC (Tenerife) announces ONE postdoctoral contract to work on the project linked to the research line “Evolution of Galaxies in Clusters”. The contract is funded by the project “WEAVE: Exploring the Cosmic Original Symphony, from Stars to galaxy clusters (WEAVE-ECOS)” (PID NB-I00), led by Dr. José Alfonso López Aguerri and Dr. Carlos del Burgo Díaz.Research at the IAC covers most areas of astrophysics, including Solar Physics, Exoplanetary Systems, Stellar and Interstellar Physics, The Milky Way and Local Group, Galaxy Formation and Evolution, and Cosmology and Astroparticles. The institute is supported by an ambitious instrumentation program. In 2020, the IAC was designated a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence by the Spanish Government, recognizing it as a leading research institute in Spain. More information about the IAC’s research, observatories, and the 10.4m GTC can be found at .Tasks: The successful candidate will pursue research in the following areas:Participate in spectroscopic analysis of data collected by WEAVE, mainly from mapping galaxy clusters and stars in the Milky Way.Determine and analyze the fundamental parameters of astronomical objects (stars and galaxies), considering environmental variations.Create a library of stellar spectra and/or perform synthesis analysis of stellar populations using modern methodologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.Applicants with experience in spectroscopy, characterization of stars and/or galaxies, and environmental analysis will be given particular consideration.#J-18808-Ljbffr
