You will combine deep technical expertise with strategic vision, helping move AI initiatives from proof‑of‑concept to scalable, production‑ready systems.Your role goes beyond delivery: you will apply classical software engineering principles to AI systems, shape future‑state architectures, and collaborate closely with business and IT stakeholders to ensure solutions are secure, compliant, resilient, and value‑driven.Providing strategic technical leadership, setting architectural direction and quality standards across AI platforms and teams.Designing and delivering AI & ML solutions across the full Technology Development Lifecycle (TDLC).Exploring emerging AI trends and translating them into proof‑of‑concepts and production systems.Leading AI Governance programs, including policy controls, risk tiers, approval workflows, model and prompt change management, and vendor due diligence.Defining cost and risk guardrails, including multi‑provider routing policies, unit‑economics reviews, and ROI tracking.Establishing enterprise AI protocols, schemas, and auditable communication standards.Ensuring resilience and portability through disaster recovery strategies, cross‑cloud deployments, and graceful degradation patterns.Driving outcome‑first roadmaps, defining value hypotheses and success metrics (CSAT, time‑to‑market, deflection, etc.).Acting as a bridge between business strategy and engineering execution, particularly in highly regulated environments.Why does this project matter?Because AI at scale requires more than models — it requires trust, governance, and engineering excellence. This role matters because without strong AI leadership, innovation doesn’t last.RequirementsCore Experience10+ years in software engineering, application architecture, or IT delivery, with senior‑level responsibility.Proven experience implementing AI & ML solutions in production environments.Strong background applying software engineering best practices to AI systems.AI Governance & ComplianceDefine and enforce AI data‑handling policies (PII, PCI, GDPR).Implement redaction, masking, tenant isolation, model risk tiers, and approval workflows.Own audit‑ready lineage, evaluation, and retention controls for prompts and models.Integrate AI providers (OpenAI / ChatGPT, Gemini, Azure, Vertex) via SDKs with fallback logic and schema validation.Prompt, Agent & RAG OperationsTreat prompts and agents as code: Git versioning, tests, feature flags, canary releases, rollback strategies, and regression alerts.Maintain prompt registries with ownership, change history, and quality metrics.Operate RAG systems with hybrid search, chunking strategies, metadata filters, drift monitoring, and evaluation harnesses.Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, FAISS, Weaviate) and tenant isolation strategies.Provider Abstraction & Fine‑TuningBuild provider‑agnostic abstractions with policy‑based routing (cost, latency, safety).Apply MCP or standard AI communication protocols.Govern SLM / LoRA fine‑tuning policies, including data eligibility, bias checks, lineage, and evaluation evidence.Core AI / ML SkillsStrong programming skills in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).Experience with supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning.Solid grounding in NLP: embeddings, semantic search, classification, summarization.Hands‑on experience with Generative AI & LLMs, including LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, OpenAI APIs, MCP, and prompt engineering.Practical experience with RAG‑based systems and knowledge architectures.Strong understanding of statistics, probability, and model evaluation.Nice to haveExposure to multimodal AI (text, vision, speech).Data engineering experience (ETL pipelines, feature engineering, EDA).Familiarity with MLOps / DevOps practices (CI/CD, monitoring, retraining).Knowledge of knowledge graphs and enterprise search integrations.Experience working in highly regulated industries.Personal attributesStrategic technical leadership with strong business alignment.High AI fluency and passion for AI‑enabled engineering at scale.Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior stakeholders.Strong ownership mindset and outcome‑driven approach.Comfortable operating in fast‑paced, evolving environments.Champion of transparency, collaboration, and continuous learning.Travel: If the candidate is not based in Madrid, they must be available to travel to Madrid or the Netherlands once per month.
