We're looking for a hands‑on Systems Engineer with a background in the requirements management, design for manufacturing, hardware/software development, and hardware test. This role requires a highly collaborative individual who will help us optimize for high‑volume production and meet cross‑discipline requirements. We are looking for an engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively.Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Key job responsibilitiesLead the development test system validationLead software/hardware integration testingLead innovative software/firmware/hardware architectures and flows for multiple manufacturing test linesLead review and analysis on data using tools such as MATLAB, Python, or similar.Support and organize the release of the software and hardware system documents through gate reviewsInvestigate and troubleshoot yield issues during prototype and production buildsWrite status and/or build reports for cross‑ reviewDrive and prioritize execution of system test campaignsDesign and develop software/scripting test setups and supporting hardware for various subsystem validation of the satellite busIdentify and analyze the cross‑functional tradeoffs between design alternatives, including impact on performance, schedule, cost, risk, complexity, and scaleDrive cross‑functional schedules, test requirements, specifications and limits with the hardware development teamWork concurrently with the design engineers to provide design for testability (DFT) feedback throughout the design processSupport production and integration efforts for hardware subsystemsDefine test strategy, implement and optimize test setup/processes at the CM including design and qualification of test fixtures, test equipment, and test softwareDevelop procedures, preventative maintenance plans, and troubleshooting guides to support productionDevelop and communicate system integration and evaluation strategies and plans in support of program learning, technical risk reduction, verification, and validationA day in the lifeYou will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven’t been solved before.About the teamThe Optical Inter‑Satellite Link Production team is a multi‑disciplinary organization responsible for all aspects of production of the key modules enabling satellite‑to‑satellite communication. This role is part of the Sustaining Engineering Team that we are building to support OISL manufacturing as we scale production. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market.
