Why this role matters A Senior Research Associate (Level B) with mixed‑methods research expertise is expected to carry out independent and/or team research in trauma care, focusing on the management of traumatic fractures in resource‑constrained settings. The role reports to the Professor and has no direct reports. Key Accountabilities Engage in individual and/or collaborative research in a manner consistent with disciplinary practice. Create scholarly impact recognised by peers in advancing disciplinary knowledge. Conduct research and scholarly activities under limited supervision, independently or as part of a team. Establish a personal research portfolio and start developing independent research proposals. Contribute to the development of applications for competitive funding under the guidance of senior colleagues. Participate as co‑investigator or chief investigator in competitive grant applications, or show evidence of active participation in research collaborations funded by competitive grants. Lead qualitative data management within the process evaluation of the 5‑country HIPCARE trial under the guidance of Australian investigators. Develop and maintain qualitative data management tools and processes where necessary, supporting qualitative data management at regional HIPCARE trial sites. Analyse qualitative data, interpret findings and draft manuscripts, collaborating with qualitative researchers at regional HIPCARE trial sites and Australian HIPCARE investigators. Contribute to research processes, liaise with study investigators and analysts, and contribute to manuscript preparation for the Inormus Study. Key Skills and Qualifications A PhD in a related discipline and/or relevant work experience. Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments. Track record in research on hip fracture care and/or healthy ageing, particularly in low‑ and middle‑income settings. Developed peer networks in orthopaedic research in the Asia‑Pacific region. Expertise in designing, conducting, and analysing qualitative research using rigorous, ethical, and participatory methods. Significant involvement with the profession and/or industry. High‑level communication skills and ability to network effectively with a diverse range of students and staff. Ability to write, edit and publish high‑quality scientific manuscripts in peer‑reviewed journals. Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships.
