At ING we are looking for Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)Your role and work environment:We are looking for a talented Site Reliability Engineer to join our SRE Expert Unit .Our mission is to ensure the reliability and scalability of ING’s platforms , delivering the best customer experience.We work closely with product teams to help them achieve their availability goals by developing and applying SRE practices together .And because the future of reliability is evolving fast, we are looking for someone who is keen to learn and apply modern techniques—including AI and automation—to make our systems smarter and more resilient .Your key responsibilitiesAs a Site Reliability Engineer , you will:Detect & Repair : Strengthen observability, improve incident response, and contribute to blameless postmortems.Prevent & Prioritize : Support capacity management, reliability testing, and error budget policies.Share Knowledge : Help spread awareness of SRE principles and best practices across teams.Drive Improvements : Identify reliability gaps and provide hands‑on technical assistance to service owners.Define Metrics : Contribute to reporting on reliability, availability, efficiency, security, and scalability.Foster Observability Culture : Promote optimal monitoring and proactive alerting strategies.Collaborate : Work closely with development teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures.Learn from Incidents : Help implement automation and code‑based solutions to prevent recurrence.Be Ready for What’s NextStay curious and keep up with emerging technologies in SRE, automation, and platform management.Show strong interest in AI and data‑driven reliability — you should be eager to learn and apply:AI‑assisted alert correlation and anomaly detection.Generative AI for runbook automation and knowledge management.Predictive analytics for capacity and performance forecasting.Bring ideas on how AI can help reduce toil, improve MTTR, and enhance reliability .What are we looking for?Want to know if this job is made for you? These are some of the qualities we value most:Proven technical skillsStrong understanding of system design principles , distributed systems, and cloud/on‑prem infrastructure .Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, AppDynamics, Dynatrace).Solid experience in Linux , configuration management (Ansible), and container orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift).Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines , Infrastructure‑as‑Code, and scripting (Python/Go).Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across the stack.Collaboration & CommunicationStrong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams.Ability to translate technical concepts into actionable insights.DesirableBackground in software development (Java or similar).Familiarity with regulatory compliance in financial services (DORA)Working Experience working with ITIL.Interest in AI and automation —not mandatory, but highly valued.Ability to learn quickly and apply new techniques to improve reliability.What do we offer?The time you spend at work, the challenges you face or the lessons you get are very important, but… What about your personal life?
