AI-Robotics Software Engineer – Cognitive Robotics GroupJoin Eurecat – Technology Centre (Barcelona) as a highly motivated AI‑Robotics Software Engineer focused on applied R&D in Cognitive Robotics. The role emphasizes robot cognition, autonomous decision‑making, and natural human‑robot interaction, integrating advanced AI technologies such as semantic perception, multimodal architectures, large language models, and emerging agentic AI.Our Robotics and Automation Unit has almost 20 years of experience in Service and Industrial Robotics. We strive to push robotic autonomy and intelligence across sectors such as assistive robotics, healthcare, flexible manufacturing, logistics, inspection, and field robotics (e.g., agriculture).Location: Cerdanyola del Vallès, outside Barcelona – the city offers excellent quality of life and a vibrant robotics ecosystem.What Will You DoContribute to advanced cognitive robotics R&DContribute scientifically and technically to projects.Conceptualise and implement advanced perception, world understanding, and interaction capabilities.Define, prototype, and validate innovative robotic behaviours and interaction paradigms.Design and deploy production‑ready AI systemsDesign, develop, validate, and maintain high‑quality software architectures for production‑oriented R&D.Deploy and optimise AI stacks on edge and cloud infrastructures, including training pipelines and embedded systems such as NVIDIA Jetson.Fine‑tune AI models to meet specific robotic application requirements.Validate systems in real robotic settingsSupport robot integration activities and experimental field trials when required.Ensure robustness, performance, and reliability of deployed solutions.Collaborate, communicate, and disseminateParticipate in scientific dissemination and publication activities.Assist in project management to guarantee successful execution.Maintain effective communication with clients and consortium partners.Skills & Experience – Must‑HaveMSc degree or equivalent professional experience in Robotics, AI, Computer Vision or related fields.Hands‑on experience in cognitive robotics or AI‑driven robotic systems.Strong programming skills in Python and C++ with documented, version‑controlled code.Experience with ROS or ROS2 and robotic software integration.Experience using deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.Familiarity with modular, scalable, maintainable software architectures.Experience training, fine‑tuning, or optimising AI models for robotics.Basic experience deploying AI components on edge or cloud infrastructures.Ability to work independently while collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.Strong communication skills and fluency in English.Willingness to support robot integration, experiments, or field trials occasionally.Availability for occasional travel.Nice‑to‑HaveDeployment and optimisation of full AI stacks across edge/cloud infrastructures, including production‑level pipelines.Experience with embedded GPU platforms such as NVIDIA Jetson and CUDA programming.Advanced expertise in AI‑driven perception and world understanding.Background in cognitive robotics frameworks (behaviour trees, task planning, robot learning, HRI).Familiarity with modern development frameworks (Node.js, Pydantic, agentic AI).Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.Participation in scientific dissemination (publications, reports, conferences).Prior involvement in project coordination or technical project management.BenefitsPermanent contract.Hybrid work model (home office/office).Flexible working hours, shorter Fridays and summer schedules.Flexible remuneration package (health insurance, transport, lunch, studies/training, kindergarten).Professional growth via Eurecat Academy courses, weekly thematic sessions, and language training (English, Catalan, Spanish).Job DetailsSeniority Level: Not ApplicableEmployment Type: Full‑timeJob Function: Engineering and Information TechnologyIndustry: Research Services#J-18808-Ljbffr
