Ubuntu Engineering Lead Join Canonical to lead engineering across the Ubuntu organization, shaping the platform that powers millions of users. Responsibilities Own the technical roadmap and deliver high‑quality, performant software for Ubuntu Server, Desktop, and cloud. Build, coach and grow a high‑performing engineering team, driving culture and technical excellence. Define vision, strategy and execution with product management and senior stakeholders. Architect and review code, ensuring security, reliability and scalability. Mentor engineers, provide technical feedback, and foster a thriving open source community. Optimize distribution performance, security, and build processes. Qualifications Superior academic/industry track record in Computer Science or STEM. Technical leadership experience, especially in open source software. Hands‑on experience with Rust, Go, Python, Flutter or C/C++. Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills. Passion for open source, community building, and performance/security engineering. Ability to travel twice a year for events and team sprints. Location Remote – available in every time zone.
