At ING we are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)Your role and work environmentWe are seeking a talented Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our SRE Chapter.This team ensures the reliability, scalability, and security of ING’s critical platforms, delivering the best customer experience.As a senior member, you will lead the evolution of SRE practices , mentor engineers, and drive innovation through automation and AI adoption in a highly regulated banking environment.Your key responsibilitiesAs a Senior Site Reliability Engineer , you will:Lead and Evolve SRE PracticesDetect & Repair : Champion observability, incident response, and blameless postmortems.Prevent & Prioritize : Implement capacity planning, reliability testing, and error budget policies.Mentor and Influence : Share knowledge, lead awareness campaigns, and coach teams on SRE principles.Drive Continuous Improvement : Identify systemic reliability gaps and provide hands‑on technical guidance.Define and Report Metrics : Ensure production systems are highly reliable, available, efficient, secure, and scalable .Foster Observability Culture : Promote optimal monitoring and proactive alerting strategies.Collaborate Across Domains : Align SRE objectives with business goals, security, and compliance requirements.Improve Resilience : Use automation and code to prevent recurrence of incidents.Innovate with AI and Emerging TechnologiesAdopt AIOps and GenAI : Explore and implement AI‑driven solutions for alert correlation, anomaly detection, and incident triage.Generative Runbooks & Knowledge Management : Use GenAI to maintain and enhance operational documentation.Predictive Reliability : Apply ML models for capacity forecasting and proactive risk mitigation.Stay Ahead : Continuously research and integrate emerging technologies to strengthen reliability and efficiency.LeadershipLead by Example : Set technical direction for reliability engineering and automation.Influence Culture : Embed SRE principles across product teams and IT operations.Strategic Thinking : Align reliability initiatives with ING’s digital transformation and regulatory commitments.What are we looking for?We value professionals who combine technical depth, leadership, and innovation mindset :Proven Technical ExpertiseStrong understanding of system design principles , distributed systems, and on‑prem/private cloud infrastructure .Deep knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, AppDynamics, Dynatrace).Solid experience in Linux, configuration management (Ansible), container orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift) .Skilled in CI/CD automation , Infrastructure‑as‑Code, and scripting (Python/Go).Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across the stack and optimize performance.Leadership & CollaborationExperience mentoring engineers and influencing cross‑functional teams.Strong communication skills to translate technical reliability goals into business outcomes.Desirable SkillsBackground in software development (Java or similar).Familiarity with regulatory compliance in financial services (DORA, GDPR).Experience in AIOps, GenAI, and ML‑driven reliability .Ability to identify opportunities for AI‑assisted automation and predictive analytics in SRE.What do we offer?The time you spend at work, the challenges you face or the lessons you get are very important, but… What about your personal life?
