AI-First QA Automation Engineer

We are currently undergoing an exciting Al-First transformation and a strategic migration to Kotlin Multiplatform / Compose Multiplatform, enabling us to build once and deploy to both iOS and Android, while maintaining native look and feel on iOS.Role OverviewAs an AI-First QA Automation Engineer (Mobile), you will be instrumental in ensuring the quality and reliability of the next generation of mobile applications for restoration professionals working in the field. You will build and maintain comprehensive test automation frameworks using WebdriverIO/Appium for cross-platform mobile testing and Playwright for web testing, working closely with our mobile development team during our greenfield application rewrite.This role combines deep mobile testing expertise with an AI-first approach to test development and maintenance. You will work in a cross-functional AI-First squad, leveraging AI tools to accelerate test creation, maintenance, and analysis while ensuring our applications deliver exceptional user experiences in challenging field conditions and maintaining high quality standards across iOS and Android platforms.Your responsibilities:Mobile Test Automation — 60%- Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using WebdriverIO/Appium for iOS and Android applications- Build robust, maintainable test frameworks that support our Kotlin Multiplatform / Compose Multiplatform architecture- Implement cross-platform test strategies that maximize code reuse while handling platform-specific scenarios- Create comprehensive test coverage for complex workflows: offline-first functionality, hardware integrations (cameras, sensors, GPS), sync mechanisms, and field-specific features- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipeline integration for automated testing on real devices and emulators/simulators- Monitor test execution, analyze failures, and maintain test stability- Drive test automation best practices and quality standards across the teamWeb Test Automation — 20%- Build and maintain automated test suites using Playwright for web applications- Ensure consistency between mobile and web experiences through parallel test coverage- Implement visual regression testing and cross-browser compatibility checks- Create API testing frameworks to validate backend integrationsQuality Advocacy & Collaboration — 20%- Partner with mobile engineers to shift quality left through testable architecture and early bug detection- Collaborate with product and design teams to define acceptance criteria and test scenarios- Conduct manual exploratory testing for new features and complex user flows- Collaborate with other QA team members across various product areas by participating in regular QA grooming sessions focused on improving processes, sharing challenges, and aligning quality standards across the organization- Contribute to quality metrics, reporting, and continuous improvement initiativesWhat you bring:- AI Tools- Experience using AI tools like Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot to accelerate test development and maintenance- Comfort with AI-augmented workflows for test case generation, debugging, and code reviewHard skills- 5+ years of experience in mobile QA automation for iOS and Android applications- Strong expertise in WebdriverIO/Appium for mobile test automation- Solid experience with Playwright for web test automation- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript for test framework development- Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar)- Knowledge of mobile app architecture patterns and testing strategies- Understanding of API testing and integration testing approaches- Experience with device farms and cloud testing platforms (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, AWS Device Farm, or similar)- Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflowsSoft skills- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities- Proactive mindset for identifying quality risks and improvement opportunities- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and user experience- Eagerness to learn and adapt to the rapidly changing AI landscape- Collaborative mindset for working in cross-functional teams- Excellent communication skills in EnglishNice to have- Experience testing offline-first applications and sync mechanisms- Background in testing applications that integrate with external hardware (Bluetooth, WiFi devices)- AR / 3D visualization experienceWhat we offer:- A fully remote job- Greenfield project (application rewrite) and an opportunity to shape its future from the early days- Training budget: courses, conferences etc.- Flexible working arrangements including remote work- Latest MacBook Pro & access to high-spec iOS and Android devices for testing
