Kubernetes Platform Engineer

NN Digital Hub is a subsidiary company of Nationale Nederlanden Group located in Madrid, Spain. We deliver IT services and solutions for the different international Business Units from Nationale Nederlanden Group. Our objective is to create, deliver and maintain insurance product management solutions, as service propositions to enable any agent (linked or direct), machine or company to create and sell insurance products in Europe in an automated way and real time. We're looking for a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team. What you are going to do: - As a Platform Engineer on AKS, you will be responsible for provisioning, maintaining and improving our Kubernetes platform that hosts multiple production workloads, including mission-critical ones. - The NN Container Platform consists of multiple distinct platforms built on top of Azure AKS,  Amazon EKS and Amazon EKS Hybrid nodes. It is our mission to empower NN's engineers by offering them a highly scalable, managed Cloud-Native platform that integrates the best fitting technologies, all according to NN security and compliancy standards. It is your job to make sure that compute resources are provisioned, policy management is taken care of, security integrations are done, operational metrics and dashboards are available, and more to deliver an enterprise grade Kubernetes platform in Azure. This should enable NN's engineers to focus on developing their microservices on top of the platform. Your responsibilities: You enable the business to focus on where it matters and adds value; developing containerized business applications.  You deliver one of NN's most advanced hosting solutions based on Kubernetes on Azure, used by DevOps teams to host their containerized microservices. You develop rock-solid add-ons within our Kubernetes platform using GitOps processes and tools (based on projects from the CNCF ecosystem), that make a short time to market possible and help our developers deliver secure, cost efficient and stable services;  You are operationally responsible for the smooth sailing of the platform, this includes participating in the 24-7 on-call rotation with the whole team; By applying smart design principles, you help reduce the price per container, which minimizes the cost footprint. The team you'll join: You will be part of the AKS Platform Team, which is part of NN's Engineering Experience & Platforms domain. In this environment, you will also find the CI/CD and Internal Developer Platform teams as your direct colleagues. Your innovative mindset means you're always brimming with new ideas, seeing possibilities, and learning from every situation. You recognize yourself in several of the following skills and experiences: 2 to 3 years of experience working with Kubernetes, particularly on Azure AKS; Solid Azure cloud knowledge and experience, including Networking, PaaS, IaaS, and IAM Proficiency in GitOps deployment management; Affinity with modern programming languages like Typescript, Python or Go; Preferably, some experience with popular CNCF technologies such as ArgoCD and Cilium; CKA or CKAD certified is a plus; Ability to think about system and platform designs at scale. Moreover, you possess the following soft skills: You derive energy from coaching and mentoring younger/junior team members; Ability to enable and train our end users to develop and deploy microservices on the platform while following best practices; Strong communication skills (in English), along with excellent analytical and collaboration abilities.
