Crop Specialist

Rijk Zwaan is looking for a Crop Specialist based in Spain, Murcia. Your role will involve bringing together all the market information and product information – that’s what you do on a day-to-day basis. You are the link connecting the international melon market, our breeding programme, and our global crop organization. You will work in close collaboration with colleagues all over the world and play an important role in deciding on the launch of new varieties as well as in formulating the future product development strategy. You will maintain and intensify contact with customers and the market, visit trial fields to gain market information and product information, and identify opportunities that can lead to new product development activities. Together with colleagues within your team, you will advise management on the future of melon within Rijk Zwaan.

You will also have client management responsibilities. You are an important link between the customers and the crop organization. You will have the opportunity to develop in a commercial role in direct contact with customers: taking information, consulting, selling, and monitoring varieties, while also building extensive knowledge of the technical characteristics to provide satisfactory answers both agronomically and commercially to our customers.

Your contribution:

You have an entrepreneurial attitude, are a team worker, and are able to maintain contacts in our international organization. You are willing to travel throughout the country, are proactive, take initiatives easily, and have a commercial and client-focused approach. You are strong at negotiating and always keep track of the latest developments in the horticultural industry. You are fluent in English.

Minimum Requirements:
  • A completed bachelor degree in the field of horticulture or agriculture
  • At least 5 years' relevant work experience in the vegetable seed industry
