Senior Liability/PI Underwriter Opportunity We are currently looking for a Senior Liability/PI Underwriter for our Liability department. The role includes underwriting large, complex or specialist cases to achieve new business and retention targets. You will spend most of your time driving underwriting decisions, actively contributing to business development activities and liaising with customers and brokers. You will handle customers and third parties independently on a one-to-one basis and act as point of contact for junior members in the team. Strong analytical, relationship management and communication skills are required. Some of the responsibilities include but are not limited to: Reviewing allocated complex and/or large Liability/PI cases and delivering underwriting decisions against company Plans within agreed timeframes, securing profitable business within authority level and risk appetite. Taking ownership and accountability of your Liability/PI book of business of large and complex accounts and delivering on set KPI’s as per company Plans. Contributing to the creation of segment and local business development plans which identify existing and regular flow of new business opportunities. Ensuring an effective relationship with Underwriting and Commercial colleagues and other stakeholders. Accessing and applying available UW Tools, Rating Engines, Protocols and technical insights to best satisfy the needs of clients and brokers by providing tailored insurance solutions. Clearly and positively articulating your proposition and risk appetite. Maximising profitable business growth through reviewing existing Liability/PI business and/or seeking and following up on new business cases, effectively negotiating and delivering underwriting decisions through agreed processes and designated authority levels. Promptly managing non-standard, large and/or complex Liability/PI cases and, if outside of licence, escalating to the relevant Business Lead and working with them to deliver outstanding service to the broker/client. Accessing senior direction and support as appropriate. Developing trusted, deep and long‑term relationships with selected brokers to generate progress and close new, upsell and cross‑sell business opportunities. Managing and working with others to promptly resolve broker and/or client complaints. Being aware of and adhering to our regulatory framework at all times. Providing guidance and coaching to less qualified/experienced colleagues where appropriate. Ensuring the Underwriting Assistant Team & the OPS Team capture and record data in a timely and accurate manner. Following up on timely policy documentation issued by liaising with the relevant (internal or external) departments. Progressing through licence levels in line with your individual development plan. The expertise you bring: Having a Bachelor and/or Master degree and solid experience in Liability/PI Underwriting. Being analytic, comfortable taking ownership and accountability, with a proven ability to execute in accordance with company Plans. Having an internal and external network of contacts both within the Functional Liability community and beyond. Being a team player and seen as a role model by peers and more junior staff. Fluent in Spanish and English.
