Electrical Substation Engineer – Sevilla, Spain Published on 19 August 2025 Opdenergy is a growing independent renewable energy producer (IPP) with presence in Europe, United States, and Latin America, with more than 19 years of experience. The company develops, builds, finances, manages, and operates high-quality renewable energy projects in several countries, with a portfolio of 2.6 GW (1.3 GW operational and over 1.3 GW under construction) assets in operations and construction. The entire portfolio under development exceeds 18 GW. We are currently looking for a Senior Grid Engineer based in Sevilla who, in coordination with the Business Development and Construction teams, will lead the interconnection of renewable energy projects, considering the technical requirements of Utilities and Applicable Law. Review and validate electrical drawings (SLDs, layout, cable routing, earthing, etc.) Participate in technical meetings with transmission/distribution operators, engineering consultants, and contractors to ensure compliance with connection requirements. Review and comment on specifications for HV/MV/LV equipment, ensuring compliance with project standards. Support internal teams during tender evaluation, equipment selection, and contract negotiations from the grid perspective. Assist during commissioning and energization phases, including FAT/SAT reviews and documentation sign-offs. Coordinate with internal project, legal, procurement, and O&M teams to ensure alignment of electrical and grid aspects across the asset lifecycle. Procurement and supervision of the basic/detailed engineering and applicable regulations of the evacuation infrastructure. Carry out Technical Due Diligence of projects. Graduated in Electrical Engineering. ~ Skilled in Energy, Power Systems, Power Transmission, Project Portfolio Management, Substation, Contract Management, Renewable Energy, and Smart Grid. ~5-6 years of experience with IPPs, TSO, DSO, or Electrical Infrastructure EPC companies. ~ High level of English (C1). ~ Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint. ~ Strong understanding of electrical design principles, HV/MV systems, and grid integration of renewable assets. ~ Ability to verify cable sizing, earthing layouts, and equipment schedules. ~ Understanding communication protocols used in SCADA/PPC systems (e.g., Familiar with construction and commissioning phases, including FAT/SAT and energization protocols.
