About BSC The Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC‑CNS) is Spain’s leading supercomputing center. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and hosts EuroHPC JU and other large‑scale research infrastructures. BSC’s mission is to research, develop, and manage information technologies to facilitate scientific progress. The Center combines HPC service provision and R&D in computer and computational science across life, earth, and engineering disciplines and currently employs over 1,000 staff from 60 countries. Context and Mission The Computer Sciences (CS) department is working on various projects around the RISC‑V ecosystem and HPC. This role focuses on the DARE project, where we seek a junior engineer with expertise in computer architecture and AI applications to push forward the ecosystem by performing AI application bottleneck analysis. Key Duties Work with micro‑architecture simulators for AI application bottleneck analysis. Based on the results, propose an AI‑focused benchmark suite. Requirements Education : Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related discipline. Essential skills : Experience with micro‑architecture simulators. Expert level knowledge in computer architecture. Strong AI application knowledge. Additional skills : Good working knowledge of English. Knowledge of HPC architectures and systems is a plus. Competences : Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for teamwork and meeting deadlines. Problem‑solving, proactive, can‑do, result‑oriented attitude. Commitment to delivering high‑quality code following industry best practices. Curiosity and willingness to learn. Conditions Location: BSC, Computer Sciences Department. Contract: Full‑time (37.5 h/week) for 6 months with flexible working hours. Benefits: Extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, relocation support. Holidays: 22 days + 6 personal days + public holidays (24th and 31st December). Salary : Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience, according to cost of living in Barcelona. Starting date: As soon as possible. Recruitment Process Phase 1 – Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of experience, degree, training and other professional information – 40 points. Phase 2 – Interview: Technical and personal competencies assessment – 60 points. A minimum of 30/60 is required to proceed. Panel: At least three members with ≥ 25 % female representation. Additional assessment: personality questionnaire and technical exercise. Outcome: Final decision communicated with feedback to all interview participants.
